Tottenham edged out Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao to end their 17-year wait for silverware.
Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal was the difference between the two sides in northern Spain, in what was an all-English affair often lacking in quality.
The victory not only hands Spurs their first taste of success since winning the League Cup in 2008, but it also secures the north Londoners a place in next season’s Champions League.
And with that comes the promise of a lucrative pay day, with a return to the top table of European football potentially worth around £100m down the line.

This season’s Europa League has an eye-watering prize pot of €565million (£475.4m), and plenty of that money is reserved solely for the final.
Tottenham will get £10.95m for winning the final, while United will walk away with £5.90m.
However, that prize money is solely for winning the final and both clubs had already picked up plenty of cash for getting this far in the competition.
Accounting for earlier rounds, Tottenham will receive £21m in total, with €18.5m (£15.5m) reserved for United.
