Ex-Bills 8-Time Pro Bowler Could Land With The Chicago Bears

The Buffalo Bills made an interesting move this offseason when they signed former Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa.

Bosa was cut from the Chargers back in March, and the Bills jumped all over the 29-year-old pass rusher in a second.

With Bosa now on the team, that means some former players lost a roster spot, and one of them was pass rusher Von Miller.

Miller spent the last three seasons playing for the Bills, appearing in 36 games and recording 14 sacks.

Miller is a 36-year-old, eight-time Pro Bowler, so his age and inability to stay healthy over the past few seasons were probably factors in why he isn’t back with the Bills.

Even though Miller isn’t signed to any team, it still seems like he wants to play, and he could head to a young team that needs veteran help.

One team that should be better this season than last year is the Chicago Bears, and they could use all the help they can get on defense.

The Chicago Bears Could Sign Von Miller

Matthew Schmidt from Chicago Bears On SI thinks the Bears should try to sign Miller.

“Chicago’s pass rush was very disappointing in 2024, thanks much in part to edge rusher Montez Sweat battling through injuries while logging just 5.5 sacks,” Schmidt wrote. “The Bears did add Dayo Odeyingbo in free agency, but they could stand to bring in another player to add some depth.”

“What about Von Miller? Miller remains available in spite of his Hall-of-Fame pedigree, and while he obviously is not the same dominant force he once was, he did still manage to register six sacks with the Buffalo Bills in 2024. At this point, the 36-year-old is a specialist who should only play on pass-rushing downs. That much is understood. But that’s really all Chicago needs to provide Sweat and Odeyingbo with some help. The Bears can hope for a breakout campaign from Austin Booker, but it would strongly benefit them to acquire some veteran insurance in the event that Sweat is injured again or that Booker fails to materialize. Miller definitely fits that bill. Chicago has a tick over $15 million in cap room left, so that should be plenty to sign Miller, who would likely settle for a cheap one-year contract at this stage of the summer.”

The Bills Could Maybe Bring Miller Back

It would be wise for the Bears to try and add Miller and see what he brings to the team.

Chicago is in a different position than the Bills, as they are just trying to get close to making the playoffs, while Buffalo is aiming to win the Super Bowl.

If Miller comes to Chicago and shows that the game has passed him by, then the Bears aren’t losing out on anything. However, if Miller can help the defense, then the team could make the playoffs.

There is still a chance Miller could return to the Bills, but that will only happen if Buffalo loses some pass rushers to injury during the season and Miller remains on the open market.
