From seemingly out of nowhere, the Chicago Bears have climbed to the top of the NFC playoff picture. After beating the Philadelphia Eagles 25-14 on Black Friday in Week 13, the Bears enter Week 14 as the No. 1 seed in their conference. It hasn’t always been pretty, but with a 9-3 record, Chicago has proven that it can win any sort of game this season.
While that may be true, some folks aren’t sold on the Bears as the playoffs draw near. Those who have watched the team closely, though, feel differently, and among that crowd is former Bears defensive tackle Spice Adams. In an exclusive interview with Heavy on Bears, Adams explained why he thinks Chicago can go on a Super Bowl run this year, while also discussing one of the hottest new fantasy football punishments, Red Baron’s “Humble Pie.”
Spice Adams Believes Bears Are a Legit Super Bowl Contender
The Bears have gotten hot at the right time, as they are in the middle of a five-game win streak, taking down playoff contenders like the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Eagles along the way. While they have barely escaped with wins over lower-quality teams like the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants during that stretch, a win is a win, and Adams thinks these hard-fought victories will serve Chicago well as the postseason draws near.
“You don’t win nine games by mistake, and if you can find a way to win these games that they have been winning, then you increase your chances of actually going to the Super Bowl,” Adams told Heavy on Bears. “I don’t want to get everybody excited and be like, ‘Oh yeah, the Bears are gonna win the Super Bowl,’ but they do have a chance to go, and they are in the driver’s seat right now. I like the job that Ben Johnson is doing, and he got the city on fire right now.”
As Adams notes, first-year head coach Ben Johnson has played a big role in the Bears’ sudden turnaround. Easily the most important part of Johnson’s job, though, involves his work with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Williams has made great strides this season, particularly when it comes to limiting his mistakes. Williams still has room to grow, but Adams has been encouraged with what he’s seen from him so far.
“He’s been great,” Adams said of Williams. “I’m glad they went out and revamped that offensive line, because now he’s getting help from not only one, but two backs, (Kyle) Monangai and (D’Andre) Swift. You got guys like (Joe) Thuney and (Jonah Jackson) and Darnell Wright just opening up all of these different gaps for the run game, and it can’t do anything but help Caleb, especially to play action and in the deep passes.”
Spice Adams Shares Details on New ‘Humble Pie’ Fantasy Football Punishment

At the end of the day, most fans are primarily concerned with how their favorite teams or players perform on a weekly basis in the NFL. However, in recent years, fantasy football has continued to grow in popularity, and while the goal is always to win, there has to be a loser in every league. For the person who finishes at the bottom, they are often subjected to a punishment by the rest of their league mates.
This year, Adams has teamed up with Red Baron to help promote their new fantasy football punishment. Known as the “Humble Pie,” Red Baron has created a pizza that is full of different ingredients designed to put whoever has the misfortune of taking a bite in a world of hurt. With punishment season quickly approaching in the world of fantasy football, Adams described what the “Humble Pie” is all about.
“This is what you have to eat if you’re a loser in fantasy league football,” Adams said. “It is the spiciest Humble Pie you’re ever gonna see. It has the Red Baron Carolina Reaper sauce, it has the ghost pepper mozzarella cheese, it has a habanero that has jalapeno, and there is cayenne pepper sprinkled on the pepperonis. There are habanero flakes just thrown all over this whole pot, and the box transforms into a sign that says, ‘I suck at fantasy.’”
Not everything involving the “Humble Pie” is bad, though. Folks who snap a picture of themselves eating the “Humble Pie” will earn the rest of their league mates a classic Red Baron pizza.
