A football manager showed up for his post-match press conference covered in cuts and bruises after furious fans stormed the dressing room after a game.

Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to their city rivals Red Star in the Eternal derby on Monday night.

Partizan head coach Aleksandar Stanojevic appeared for his post-match conference wearing plasters on his head and nose, confirming his side’s own fans ‘broke glass’ as they entered and vandalised the dressing room.

Reports suggests angry Partizan fans also threw objects in wild scenes in the Serbian capital.

‘Disgruntled fans broke the glass, it’s unpleasant,’ Stanojevic said after the game, Reuters report.

‘I came with band-aids to the press conference, but there’s no reason to make a theatre. There was nothing more, no fight, no physical conflict. It’s no drama.’

Cherif Ndiaye scored a hat-trick as Red Star eased to a dominant win – their third successive victory over their arch-rivals.

Stanojevic, 50, returned to Partizan for a third spell in charge earlier this year having previously managed them between 2010 and 2012 and 2020 and 2022.

‘I apologise to every Partizan fan, I apologise for the way we lost the game,’ Stanojevic continued.

‘I take responsibility, and this is mine, the worst defeat in my career. It’s my fault how we lost the game. It’s a shame for all of us. And for me, the biggest.’

Partizan sit in ninth place in the Serbian Superliga after seven games with Monday’s defeat their second on the bounce.
