Former Kansas City Chiefs Star Involved in Alleged Shooting

Surveillance footage obtained by the Associated Press on Friday shows NFL player L’Jarius Sneed driving a Lamborghini Urus at a Dallas-area car dealership and nearby service station moments before gunshots were allegedly fired from the vehicle. Sneed’s personal assistant was reportedly in the vehicle when the incident occurred on Dec. 6, 2024.

The Tennessee Titans cornerback, and former Kansas City Chiefs superstar, was indicted in Texas on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for failure to report a felony, which is a misdemeanor. The offense carries a penalty of up to one year in county jail and/or a maximum fine of $4,000.

Sneed, 28, has not currently been penalized by the NFL or the Tennessee Titans. He has yet to publicly comment on the situation.

No one is reported to have been injured in the alleged shooting.

Details of the Shooting

According to the AP, “Christian Nshimiyimana was sitting inside the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon on Dec. 6 in Carrollton, Texas. Neither he nor anyone else was hit by bullets fired from a Lamborghini Urus driving past One Legacy Motors.

“Attorney Levi McCathern said in a statement Friday that Sneed and his accomplice were arrested by the Carrollton Police Department for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the shooting but have yet to answer for it. McCathern also accused Sneed and a woman who identified herself as Sneed’s mother of calling and threatening Nshimiyimana afterward, wanting him to not cooperate with police or retain an attorney.”

In surveillance video, Sneed was seen exiting his vehicle at 3:22 p.m. to enter the car dealership where the alleged shooting took place. The gunshots were reportedly fired from Sneed’s Lamborghini Urus at 3:42 p.m. out of the passenger window as the car drove away from the dealership. According to a police affidavit, Sneed was the only person seen driving the car leading up to the alleged shooting.

Sneed’s personal assistant, Tekonzae Williams, is reported to have been in the vehicle as well. Williams has been indicted by the same Texas grand jury for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. An original lawsuit filed against Sneed and Williams sought at least $1 million in damages, per The Tennessean.

Sneed’s Career, Super Bowl Appearances

Sneed was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs and quickly became a key defensive player for the team. He won two Super Bowls in four seasons with the Chiefs. Sneed played 57 games for Kansas City and logged 10 interceptions, 40 pass breakups, and 303 total tackles. The physical defensive back added 6.5 sacks and forced four fumbles.

The Tennessee Titans acquired Sneed via trade on March 29, 2024. In exchange for Sneed, the Titans dealt a 2025 third-round pick to Kansas City and swapped 2024 seventh-round picks. The veteran signed a four-year, $76.4 million deal with the Titans that offseason, making him one of the league’s highest-paid cornerbacks.

Sneed’s two seasons in Tennessee have been lackluster and waylaid by injury. He has played just 12 games for the team, recording zero interceptions and three pass breakups. Sneed is currently on injured reserve after suffering a quad injury against the New England Patriots on Oct. 19.
