Former Vikings third-round pick Brian Asamoah II is on the move again. Asamoah, who appeared in 46 games over three seasons with Minnesota from 2022-24, was signed Thursday to the Bengalsâ practice squad.
The 25-year-old linebacker spent the first eight weeks of this season on the Raidersâ practice squad.
Asamoah totaled 30 tackles (17 solo), two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 46 games with Minnesota.
Asamoah Was Fixture on Special Teams for Vikings
Asamoah was drafted 66th overall in 2022 out of Oklahoma. A pre-draft scouting report by Pro Football Networkâs Tony Pauline called the 6-foot Asamoah an âoutstanding pursuit linebacker who plays big-boy football with fierce intensity,â noting that his âlack of size will cause mismatch problems.â
He appeared in 16 games as a rookie, recording 17 tackles while primarily playing special teams. Minnesota waived Asamoah on Aug. 12, and Tennessee picked him up the next day. He was with the Titans for only two weeks before being released before final roster cuts.
Asamoah was most recently with the Raiders after joining their practice squad on Sept. 1, days before the start of the regular season.
The four-year veteran will look to provide depth and compete for a spot on the 53-man in Cincinnati.
Bengals Add Linebacker to Active Roster
The Asamoah signing was one of several moves made by the Bengals ahead of Week 9 against the Bears. Cincinnati also signed linebacker Joe Giles-Harris off the practice squad to the active roster and cut defensive end Myles Cole, replacing him on the practice squad with linebacker Liam Anderson.
Giles-Harris spent the first seven weeks on Cincinnatiâs practice squad after initially signing with the team in April and was elevated for the Week 8 game against the Jets. The Bengals lost 39-38, dropping their record to 2-5.
Cole signed with the Bengalsâ practice squad on Sept. 9. He spent seven games in that role.
