The SEC Championship is set. The No.3-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (11-1) are set to take on the No. 9-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (10-2) on Saturday in a heavyweight conference championship featuring the two powerhouses of the SEC over the past several years. Both Alabama and Georgia come into this matchup with a 7-1 record in the SEC. Georgia’s lone loss came back in September against the Crimson Tide. The only team to beat Alabama in conference play was Oklahoma.
Now, considering that UGA is essentially in the College Football Playoff regardless of a win or loss, they are looking to play a huge spoiler, as Alabama’s chances of getting in are a lot harder if they have three losses and no conference championship. However, that decision will be up to the CFP committee, and it’s unclear if they will punish Alabama for having to play an extra game. So, let’s get into the betting market of this game, as well as some predictions for the premier matchup on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs have a very tenured history in college football. In the last 10 meetings, Alabama Football has come out on top nine times, but the one time in those last 10 matchups that the Bulldogs won was the 2021 National Championship game. Some of the recent previous matchups include this season (Alabama won 24-21), the 2024 regular season, and the 2023 SEC Championship.

Georgia vs. Alabama Predictions
Prediction: Georgia wins and covers.Â
With a win over Alabama on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs will become back-to-back SEC Champions and reign supreme in the nation’s toughest conference once again. Georgia Football wins this one and covers the 2.5-point spread. Georgia’s moneyline is also a good pick here if you want to play it safe, but I don’t see a world where they don’t cover, if they are to pick up the victory. Gunner Stockton is coming off a clunker game against Georgia Tech, but this is a good opportunity to rebound and show the nation how quality of a signal caller he is.
Alabama hasn’t looked the same over the past few weeks, and its running game hasn’t been strong, which will give the Bulldogs’ defense the ability to key in on pass coverage and make Crimson Tide QB Ty Simpson uncomfortable in the pocket.
One thing’s for certain, this SEC Championship game has the makings to be an all-time meeting between the two recent rivals in CFB.
