Georgia Get Concerning Take on Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss

The Ole Miss Rebels will be looking to advance past the Georgia Bulldogs when these two SEC teams clash on New Year’s Day in the Sugar Bowl at the Caesars Superdome. Both teams will be looking to welcome 2026 with a berth in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

Georgia are the favorite in this matchup as the No. 3 seed. However, the Bulldogs have received a clear warning from college football analyst Josh Pate, who notes that Ole Miss have the difference-maker in Trinidad Chambliss, who could allow the Rebels to pull off an upset.

“What I do think is a factor, and even though I’m picking Georgia, [and] why I would give Ole Miss a puncher’s chance is because I think they may have the most dangerous quarterback in this entire tournament,” Pate said about Chambliss on the December 31 edition of “Get Up.”

“Trinidad Chambliss is the guy that we still have the most unknown about. In other words, there’s the most room between his head and his ceiling. But that is a weapon.”

Chambliss had a passer rating of 158.8 with 3,298 yards, 19 touchdowns, and three interceptions in 13 games this season, per StatMuse.

Georgia Will Need to Contain Trinidad Chambliss

Moreover, one of Chambliss’ most impressive games of the 2025 college football season came against Georgia on October 18. Chambliss carved up the Bulldogs’ defense with his arm and legs as he went 19-for-36 on his pass attempts, recording 263 passing yards and one touchdown.

Nonetheless, it was on the ground that the 23-year-old was the most effective as he registered 42 rushing yards and two touchdowns using his legs. Still, Georgia was able to escape with a 43-35 win, but Chambliss could be looking to replicate that performance again.

“Ole Miss scored touchdowns on their first five drives against Georgia in Athens, and that was his first SEC road start,” Pate added. “It just so happens, Gunner Stockton also had his best game of the year against Ole Miss. The reason I can’t go as far as to pick the upset is because I can’t envision Georgia not playing their best ball here.

“I’ve just been trained to expect that from Kirby Smart for so long. I think they have the staff advantage. They may not have the pound-for-pound quarterback advantage, but Gunner Stockton is not losing this game. I don’t think Georgia is losing this game.”

Ole Miss Looks to Avoid Key Mistake Against Georgia

Despite Ole Miss’ performance against Georgia during the regular season, the lack of fourth-quarter points proved to be what did them in, leading to the loss. As a result, Chambliss stated that he doesn’t want that situation to repeat itself on January 1.

“We definitely have to finish the whole game and that starts with me,” Chambliss said on December 30 (h/t Ole Miss Rebels on SI). “I have to focus on executing my throws and ending series with points. I’ve got to a better job in the fourth quarter and finishing games… Sure, we did a great job through three quarters last time out in Athens, but we have to play a whole game and finish strong.”
