Coming into Week 11’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers, the New York Giants were forced to turn to veteran quarterback Jameis Winston, with rookie gunslinger Jaxson Dart in concussion protocol.
Even though the Giants were able to give the Packers a run for their money on Sunday at MetLife Stadium with Winston running the show under center, New York suffered its fifth consecutive loss, falling short, 27-20. Now the focus shifts to when the Giants will be able to get Dart back on the field, with the team set to face a very good Detroit Lions squad in Week 12 on the road at Ford Field.
Giants Get An Update on Rookie QB Jaxson Dart

Although it is shaping up to be a lost season for the Giants, with the focus on the franchise’s future, Dart will benefit from getting reps under center to finish out his rookie season in New York.
That said, the team will be anxious to get him back on the field sooner rather than later. However, the talented rookie remains in concussion protocol, according to interim head coach Mike Kafka via Giants Videos.
“Jaxson is still in the protocol, so I’m just going to see that through,” Kafka said. “We’ll talk with the medical (staff) and when they give us the thumbs up, we’ll take the next action.”
Even though Dart takes some unnecessary risks on the football field, which pose a significant risk to his health, the 22-year-old has shown a lot of promise to be the future face of the storied franchise. He definitely makes the offense that much more dynamic, with the ability to keep opposing defenses on their heels due to his ability to make an impact with his arm and his legs.
Who Will be the Next Head Coach of the Giants?

With the Giants recently parting ways with head coach Brian Daboll, New York will begin its pursuit for a new leader on the sideline. There will be no shortage of candidates for the coaching vacancy, with the Giants providing an ideal opportunity for a coach to work with and build a team around promising young players like Dart, Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers.
Although it is early in the process and the Giants brass is expected to do its due diligence, a few notable candidates have already started to emerge. One of those candidates is former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, who has been looking for the opportunity to return to coaching at the NFL level.
Other notable candidates for the coaching job in New York include Steve Spagnuolo, Mike McCarthy, Matt Nagy, Lou Anarumo, Arthur Smith and Chris Shula.
Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick seemed like an obvious choice, but he has no interest in coming back to the NFL, as he is currently at the helm of the University of North Carolina’s football team.
