Giants Linked to Blockbuster Trade for $33 Million WR to Help Jaxson Dart

The New York Giants, and general manager Joe Schoen, could go big-game hunting as buyers ahead of next month’s NFL trade deadline.

After Malik Nabers‘ and Darius Slayton‘s injuries have depleted New York’s wide receiving corps, Schoen and the Giants could look to add, both in order to make a playoff push over the second half of this season but more importantly bolster the supporting cast around first-round rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart to accelerate and more fairly evaluate his development.

With the November 3 deadline rapidly approaching, ESPN lists the Giants as an ideal fit for wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.

“Meyers wanted a new deal before the season and didn’t get one despite a trade request,” according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “He appears poised for 2026 free agency. He leads the Raiders in targets (42) despite missing Week 7, and he is drawing interest at an ideal time for a Raiders team in transition. But there’s no consensus leaguewide on exactly what Las Vegas will do. Multiple execs told me they believe the team is open to a deal but is not actively looking for trade partners. Another, however, believes the Raiders would prefer to wait until after the season to make any sweeping changes, due in part to the presence of Pete Carroll.”

The Giants make a lot of sense for Meyers, 28, who boast a young receiving corps but few proven commodities at the position, around a quarterback New York is trying to both develop and decide whether he can truly become a franchise cornerstone player.

Through his first seven seasons, Meyers has caught 422 passes for 4,921 yards with 20 touchdowns, while averaging 11.7 yards per reception.

Meyers’ ability to stretch the field and create separation could quickly make him one of Dart’s favorite targets this season and become part of a formidable duo alongside Nabers in 2026, and beyond.

Why the Giants make sense for Jakobi Meyers

Candice Ward | GettyIf the New York Giants are shopping for receiver help, to boost Jaxson Dart, Las Vegas Raiders star Jakobi Meyers could be an ideal fit.

The Giants could be an ideal destination for Meyers, for multiple reasons.

From a financial standpoint, Meyers is in the final year of a three-year extension worth $33 million, and his expiring contract makes him a valuable trade chip for teams across the league.

Next season, the Giants are projected to have upwards of $16 million in cap space, and $113.2 million in spending flexibility in 2027, which is plenty of space to absorb a long-term contract extension to keep Meyers in the fold of a young and ascending offense.

While Nabers’ big-play ability has been evident since his time in Baton Rouge, the Giants have been unable to identify or develop a complementary weapon; with Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, and others struggling to prove themselves as a consistent No. 2 receiver.

Given the success that teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles (A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith), Dallas Cowboys (CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens), Cincinnati Bengals (Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins) have had with two dominant receivers, the Giants could aim to follow a similar blueprint to an explosive offense by adding Meyers in the coming weeks.
