Heidenheim vs Chelsea preview
Two-time European champions Chelsea travel to Germany for Thursday’s Conference League showdown against Heidenheim.
The Blues are heavy favourites to win the competition outright, so it’s perhaps of little surprise that they sit top of the Conference League table after three matches.
Enzo Maresca’s side have claimed a maximum nine points and have scored 16 goals in the process, which is double the number of anyone in the competition.
Chelsea have managed this with a largely second-string side that still includes the likes of Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk.
Maresca has clearly defined his first and second team options, so there’s unlikely to be any major changes to the starting XI which have started the three pervious Conference League ties.
Chelsea have posted a run of four matches without defeat in November (W2, D2), and secured three points against Leicester during their most recent encounter.
And they’ll more than likely extend that run against a Heidenheim side who were dispatched 5-2 against Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich over the weekend.
That said, Heidenheim have enjoyed their Conference League adventure having won all three of their games against Olimpija Ljubljana, Pafos FC and Hearts.
But, as we know, Chelsea are a very different prospect.

It’s time for cup specialist Christopher Nkunku to shine.
The Frenchman, 27, is behind Nicolas Jackson in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge but has taken his opportunity when given starts away from the Premier League.
