Historic Taylor Swift Announcement Made on Travis Kelce’s Birthday

The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football in Week 5, which means tight end Travis Kelce gets to rest on his birthday. Kelce, who’s playing in his 13th NFL season, turns 36 on Sunday, October 5.

While the future NFL Hall of Famer has a lot to celebrate this year, the veteran is unlikely to host a big bash, and not just because he has a primetime game the following day.

“It’s not a good day, it’s just an annoying day for me,” he said on the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast. “I don’t want to get into the Grinch of birthdays, but I’m just not in on birthdays.”

Kelce may not be into birthdays, but his future bride, Taylor Swift, whose new album dropped on October 3, loves to celebrate him. “The Life of a Showgirl” features a slew of songs inspired by Kelce, including “Opalite,” a nod to his birthstone.

While promoting the album this past week, Swift gushed over Kelce’s influence on her music.

“I used to have this dark fear that if I ever were truly happy and free, being myself and nurtured by a relationship, what happens if the writing just dries up?” she revealed on BBC 1 Radio. However, the reverse happened and she refers to creating this album as “lightning in a bottle” with Max Martin and Shellback.

Speaking to Heart Radio, Swift gushed over Kelce as a person. “He’s fun and vibrant and has this infectious personality, makes me laugh so much. There’s a line in a song (Wi$h Lis$t) that says, you just wanted a best friend who you think is hot – and that’s kind of it!”

Taylor Swift Is The First Artist Since Prince to Have a No. 1 Album, Song & Movie in the U.S.

As a companion piece to her 12th studio album, Swift released an 89-minute film, “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” in theaters on Friday. The movie, which only runs through Sunday, is a smash hit and is estimated to rake in $33 million domestically, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 35-year-old pop star owns the No. 1 movie, No. 1 album, and No. 1 song (“The Fate of Ophelia”) in America, and she’s the first artist to do so since Prince in 1984. Prince achieved the historic feat with the movie and album, “Purple Rain,” and the hit song, “When Doves Cry.”

The 14-time Grammy winner is the first female artist to hit this trifecta record.

Taylor Swift Drops Her First Music Video Off ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ on Travis Kelce’s Birthday

Fans who made it to Swift’s movie in theaters saw the Swift-directed music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” which officially premieres on YouTube on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET. Debuting the new music on Kelce’s birthday seems like the perfect gift, as leaked clips reveal there are numerous nods to the Chiefs star.

“The Fate of Ophelia” was inspired by William Shakespeare’s tragic play “Hamlet.” Ophelia goes mad and drowns herself after Hamlet kills her father and rejects her love. Kelce saved her from the fate, as the singer explains it.

“Someone comes into your life and rescues you from the fate of being driven mad by love,” she told Heart Radio. Swift also seems to reference Kelce publicly lamenting not getting to meet her on “New Heights” following her “Eras Tour” stop in Kansas City in July 2023.

She sings, “I heard you calling/On the megaphone, You wanna see me all alone. As legend has it you/Are quite the pyro, You light the match to watch it blow. And if you’d never come for me/I might’ve drowned in the melancholy.”
