Historic Travis Kelce Announcement Made During Commanders Game

The Kansas City Chiefs entered Monday Night Football as the heavy favorite to defeat the Washington Commanders. Following the Chiefs’ blowout win over the Las Vegas Raiders last week, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Co. simply look unstoppable.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce caught all three of his targets for 54 yards against the Raiders. During the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce couldn’t help but gush over the team’s performance.

“There’s some mind-blowing stats,” Kelce said. “Like, we had as many first downs (30) as they had offensive plays. It’s crazy to kind of think about what really went on this past Sunday.”

However, the 36-year-old veteran is putting up some incredible stats of his own. Kelce entered Week 8 with 31 receptions for 375 yards and two touchdowns on the season, one score away from tying his touchdown total in 2024 (3).

During the third quarter, Kelce caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes and made Chiefs history.

Travis Kelce Tied Priest Holmes For Most TDs in the Regular Season

Kelce was on fire against the Commanders. He scored his 83rd career touchdown, bringing the Chiefs’ lead to 21-7 with 3:21 left in the third quarter.

With that score, he tied Priest Holmes for the most regular-season touchdowns in Chiefs history. According to NFL.com, he also registered his 80th receiving touchdown, which puts him in elite company. Only Jimmy Graham, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Gates, and Tony Gonzalez have also reached that mark.

The Chiefs proudly celebrated his regular-season and postseason touchdown total. The team announced on X, “Tonight, Travis Kelce recorded his 100th career receiving TD, including playoffs. Congratulations, Trav! 🎯.”

Kelce, a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, already owns numerous franchise and NFL records. In 2020, he set the NFL record for the most receiving yards (1,416) in a single season by a tight end in NFL history. In 2022, he recorded the most receptions (110) of any Chiefs tight end in a single season. As a tight end, he also has the most-consecutive 1,000 yard seasons in NFL history (7) and most 100-catch seasons (3).

Travis Kelce’s Fiancée, Taylor Swift, Cheered Him On During the Commanders-Chiefs Game

Kelce had his good luck charm at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night. Taylor Swift, his future bride, watched from a suite as Kelce put up his best numbers of the season on October 27.

Thus far this season, Swift has only attended Chiefs’ home games. Swift quietly watched Kansas City’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 and looked on as the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 37-20 in Week 3.

In addition to attending the Raiders-Chiefs game last week, the 14-time Grammy winner cheered Kelce on during the Chiefs’ 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 6.

One day before the Commanders-Chiefs game, Swift also made history. Billboard announced, “By holding at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (dated Nov. 1) for a third week with ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ Taylor Swift ups her career total of weeks at No. 1 on that chart to 89 – a tally topped by only one act in the chart’s 69-year history.” As a solo artist, she holds the record alone.
