Carlos Alcaraz Reflects on Wimbledon Loss to Jannik Sinner

Last month, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner collided in the Wimbledon final just over a month after their jaw-dropping French Open final on court Philippe-Chatrier.

After going down two sets to love and saving three championship points, Alcaraz managed to pull off a historic comeback to win his second Roland Garros title.

Weeks later, when Alcaraz and Sinner faced off in the Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles final, it was Sinner who prevailed, handing Alcaraz his first loss in a Grand Slam final.

Leading up to the Cincinnati Open, where Alcaraz hopes to dethrone Sinner as reigning champion, the world No. 2 spoke about his loss at SW19.

He was quoted by Tennis.com as saying:

“I obviously didn’t want to lose any finals that I play, even more if it’s a Wimbledon final or a Grand Slam final. I left the court happy. I left the court proud. I left the court smiling, just thinking, ‘Ok, at some point, I have to lose a Grand Slam final. Everyone does.’ I’m just proud.

“Obviously, there are lots of things I have to improve from that match, but it took me hours, not even days. I had to be grateful for everything I’ve achieved, that I’m living, and being in a Wimbledon final was more than that. Even though I lost it, I left the court proud and happy with everything I did.”

Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud Hit the Links in Cincinnati

While Carlos Alcaraz’s sights are set on dethroning Jannik Sinner as the Cincinnati Open champion, the five-time Grand Slam champion found some time to hit the links with Casper Ruud in Cincy.

Before the start of the tournament, which saw Ruud suffer a Round of 64 loss to Arthur Rinderknech, he and Alcaraz battled it out on the golf course, as seen below.

According to an interview Alcaraz did with the Financial Times, he came up short against Ruud, however, the world No. 2 may have the last laugh, as he revealed that he plans to use the loss as motivation the next time the two compete on court.
