A WWE Hall of Famer suggested a WrestleMania dream match between Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Roman Reigns will never happen.
The Rock, 52, and Reigns, 39, came close to locking horns last year at WrestleMania 40 but fans pushed for the latter to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes instead.
The two cousins went on to join forces and defeated Rhodes as well as Seth Rollins on night one of last year’s WrestleMania before The American Nightmare dethroned the champ the following evening.
Fans have been wanting to see these two prominent Anoaʻi family members – whose relation occurs via Samoan tradition as Reverend Amituana’i Anoa’i, Reigns’ grandfather, declared Peter Maivia, The Rock’s grandfather, as his blood brother – lock horns for years.
The last time they ever met in the ring was on RAW’s debut episode on Netflix in January after Reigns defeated his cousin Solo Sikoa in a Bloodline Rules Match, which saw the victor being anointed Tribal Chief of the Anoa’i family.
Johnson met The Head of the Table and presented him with the esteemed ulafala, which he placed around his neck as a symbol of leadership within the family.
And WWE legend Bubba Ray Dudley believes this moment signalled the end of the two cousins’ storyline.
Thus, Dudley finds no reason to book that dream match any time soon.
The 10-time tag team champion concedes that the bout could still be booked at some point but a long time has passed since the last time the two heavyweights got on camera.
Dudley told Busted Open Radio: “Storyline-wise, on the debut of Monday Night Raw on Netflix, I saw The Rock put the ulafala on Roman’s neck. Period. I don’t know how you get away from it?

“Can you come up with some magical way — it’s pro wrestling, of course, you can.
“But there seems to be a very, very big period put on the end of that sentence.”
Reigns is set to headline night one of WrestleMania 41 on Saturday when he takes on Rollins and CM Punk in a Triple Threat Match at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
