Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton Details Injury Progress in Video

During Game 7 of the NBA Finals last season, the Indiana Pacers lost Tyrese Haliburton to a torn Achilles. Haliburton played just seven minutes before going down, ending any chance that they had of winning the game and the championship.

Before this season started, President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard ruled Haliburton out for the season. He wanted to make sure he had no pressure to return early. Haliburton has been working hard to get back, but he won’t play at all this year.

Even though he won’t be playing for the Pacers this season, Haliburton has still tried really hard to attack his rehab with everything he has. Recently, Haliburton released a video of his progress on the opening night of the season.

Indiana Pacers Guard Tyrese Haliburton Shows Injury Progress in New Video

Haliburton released a video on his YouTube page detailing the progress he made from June up until opening night. The Pacers played the Thunder on opening night and lost in overtime. He gave some good insight during the video as to what progress he’s made.

“I just started running and jumping a couple of weeks ago. I should be trying to dunk tomorrow.”

It has now been three weeks since that video was taken, and Haliburton has indeed dunked. He is still a ways away from where he needs to be to make a full recovery, but his progress is getting quicker at this point in his recovery.

The video showed Haliburton running, jumping, and shooting jump shots. That progress shows how far he has come since injuring himself in the last game of the season back on June 22. Haliburton was most excited when he was able to dunk at the end of his workout.

The Indiana Pacers Desperately Miss Tyrese Haliburton

Without Haliburton in the lineup, the Pacers have struggled mightily on the court. So far, the Pacers have just one win on the season, tied with the worst record in the NBA. Shot-creation and play-making have been the two biggest issues that have plagued the team.

So far this season, the Pacers are scoring the second-fewest points in the league. His ability to create open shots for others has clearly been missed. Other injuries have also saddled the Pacers’ ability to create easy shots as they did a year ago.

Indiana is still missing Bennedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin, and T.J. McConnell. The Pacers finally got Andrew Nembhard back, but Aaron Nesmith hurt himself during a hard fall against the Warriors. He was held out of a rematch against Golden State on Sunday.

The Pacers are hopeful that they can start to play better basketball when they get some of their key rotation guys back in the lineup. Unfortunately, it may be too late. They may have dug themselves too big a hole to climb out of in order to make the playoffs.

As for Haliburton, he will keep trying to help the team in any way he can on the bench. He will continue to make progress in the coming months.
