With each passing week, the Dallas Cowboys are improving on both sides of the football. While the New York Jets arenât a great team, and the Cowboys had some lapses defensively in the second half, they essentially blew the Jets out. For much of the game, the Cowboys controlled it, walking away with a 37-22 win.Â
Jerry Jones was feeling himself, Dak Prescott continues to play like an MVP candidate, and things are going as well as possible for a Cowboys team that many questioned just a few weeks ago.Â
For Jones, however, he has some questions to answer in the immediate term. After being caught on social media giving the middle finger to Jets fans, it’s possible that he could be fined. When examining the situation, Jayna Bardahl of The Athletic highlighted some prior incidents in the NFL that have occurred in the past, along with the associated fines. For Jones, this could be a blueprint of what’s coming his way.Â
âThe NFL, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment, has a history of frowning on actions like this.
âIn 2009, former Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams was fined $250,000 by the league for making an âobscene gestureâ toward Buffalo Bills fans. Adams was seen raising his middle fingers toward fans from his suite and then again on the field while celebrating Tennesseeâs 41-17 win. The league fined Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper $300,000 during the 2023 season after he was caught on video throwing a drink in the direction of Jacksonville Jaguars fans during a 26-0 Panthers loss,â she wrote.
Jerry Jones Got Caught Up in the Moment
As of Monday night, the Dallas Cowboys owner has yet to be fined, in trouble, or face any other consequences, but the NFL takes its time with matters like this. It wouldn’t be too surprising to see something change in the coming days.Â
Jones was also feeling himself in other ways on Sunday, perhaps because his team is playing better than expected. After the game, he took another shot at Micah Parsons, which only added to the drama that already unfolded at MetLife Stadium.
âIt just shows you that heâs got those kinds of skills. We know that he needs to work on the run,” Jones said, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“Guess what? We had a pass rusher around here, the way to box him in was to run at him, but he could really rush the passer. This guy really is rushing the passer beyond my expectation.â
Jerry Jones Once Again Makes Headlines for the Cowboys
Jones typically makes headlines for all of the wrong reasons, and giving fans the middle finger certainly isn’t up to his standards for the Dallas Cowboys, but it’s part of life, and as a grown man, Jones has the right to do that.
However, there was some better news earlier in the week, when he admitted that he’s a huge Taylor Swift fan and is looking to have her come to the game when the Chiefs play the Cowboys later in the year.Â
“Thereâs nobody a bigger fan of Taylor Swift than I am,” Jones said, per USA Today. “We would have an elaborate seat for her if she should attend the game.”
“I can’t get enough Taylor Swift,” he said.
Before Swift comes around, Jones will have to worry about the short-term and this potential fine.
