Insiders Share Crazy Reasons Why Las Vegas Raiders Cut $110 Million Star

Former Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Christian Wilkins was released by the organization on Thursday July 24, 2025.

On Monday July 28, 2025, Adam Schefter made an appearance on the Pat McAfee show on ESPN to report that Wilkins’ release was tied, at least somewhat, to a kiss incident inside the Raiders locker room.

“From speaking to people inside the Raiders locker room…they say that Christian Wilkins playfully went to kiss a teammate on the top of his head,” Schefter said. “They say that player took offense to it and that’s what everybody has been dancing around.”

The report confirmed rumors that Wilkins and the Raiders had issues in the locker room and that a “weird incident” had occurred between him and a teammate. No one has publicly reported the name of the player Wilkins tried to kiss.

The Raiders signed Wilkins to a 4-year, $110 million contract just last offseason and were hoping he could form a dynamic duo alongside Raiders EDGE rusher Maxx Crosby. He ultimately ended up playing only 5 games and recording 2 sacks as a Raider before the team released him.

Former Raider Calls Out Wilkins

Jon Feliciano, a former guard for the Oakland Raiders who just retired in February 2025, had some shocking commentary on the Wilkins situation when the story broke.

“Brotha always been a little freaky,” Feliciano wrote in a repost on X.

Feliciano and Wilkins were never teammates, so it’s unclear what Feliciano knows and how he found it out.

He could be referring to a confrontation on September 25, 2022, when Wilkins, a member of the Miami Dolphins at the time, was fined $13,261 for grabbing Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the groin area during a pile-up.

Wilkins denied the accusation at the time and appealed the fine.

Feliciano is also a former Buffalo Bill, but his final season in Buffalo was 2021 and he was on the New York Giants in 2022.

Wilkins Also Had Injury Drama

The official reason the Raiders offered for why they released Wilkins was due to how he handled his injury rehab.

Wilkins suffered a Jones fracture in his foot last season, which caused him to miss 12 games. From comments by Pete Carroll and reports inside the locker room, it seemed like Wilkins’s rehab wasn’t going well.

Then, upon Wilkins’s release, the Raiders released a stern statement related to why they moved on from him.

“We have decided that it is in the best interests of the organization to move on from Christian Wilkins and he has been informed of his release from the team,” the Raiders wrote. “This franchise has a Commitment to Excellence on and off the field. With no clear path or plan for future return to play from Christian, this transaction is necessary for the entire organization to move forward and prepare for the new season.”

The Raiders are attempting to void the remaining guaranteed money on Wilkins’s contract, which totals over $35 million. Wilkins has filed a grievance with the NFLPA related to his contract situation.

Raiders fans, what do you think of the Christian Wilkins situation? Will another team sign him to a contract, or is his career in jeopardy?
