Arsenal head into their Premier League clash with West Ham United this afternoon hoping to have Gabriel Magalhaes ready and available.

The Gunners are two points behind league leaders Liverpool after their slip-up against Crystal Palace last week.

And Mikel Arteta’s side could find themselves top by the time Arne Slot’s side kick off against Chelsea in today’s evening kick-off.

Early season injury problems have started to clear up for Arsenal with Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard available again after respective hamstring and shoulder issues.

But there was another scare midweek during the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Gabriel was forced off late on after he was sandwiched between David Raya and a member of the opposition, looking in some discomfort as he left the pitch to be replaced by Cristhian Mosquera.

Arteta was hopeful his defender had avoided any fresh injury with a final decision to be made ahead of kick-off.

If there are any doubts, William Saliba’s return to fitness and Mosquera’s bright start to life in north London means there are options to change things up if required.

Noni Madueke remains sidelined as he recovers from a knee injury picked up in the draw against Manchester City while there is has still been no firm indication on when Kai Havertz or Gabriel Jesus will be available.

Piero Hincapie meanwhile is hopeful of returning to action after the international break after a groin injury.

Arsenal XI to face West Ham – Metro prediction

Eberechi Eze and Odegaard have started in same team just once since the latter’s arrival in north London – the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

A home game against struggling opposition seems the perfect opportunity to utilise both men in the same team again.
