Is Breece Hall Fed up After Four Years as a New York Jet?

One of the largest decisions facing the New York Jets entering the 2026 offseason is what to do with running back Breece Hall.

An impending free agent, the Jets turned down multiple offers at the trade deadline to part with their dual-threat out of the backfield, including a fourth-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Nate Taylor.

Taylor claims New York was holding out for a third-rounder.

“I think I’ve said this a million times over and over,” head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters after the trade deadline.

“Breece was not a guy I wanted to get rid of. I mean, he’s a damn good player.”

The Jets weren’t able to hammer out an extension with Hall before the end of the season, like they were able to do with center Josh Myers and tight end Jeremy Ruckert.

Is that a sign that the former Iowa State star is done with New York?

Breece Hall Dejected After the Patriots Loss

Despite the 42-10 blowout loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, Breece Hall had himself a solid performance, carrying the ball 14 times for 111 yards and scoring the New York Jets only touchdown of the day on a 59-yard scamper.

It was the fourth time this season he had more than 100 yards on the ground, and he also crossed the 1,000 yards rushing threshold for the first time in his career.

But there was no joy to be found in Hall’s postgame comments, and as he met with the media, the former 2022 second-round pick seemed dejected.

“Yeah, it’s cool. Sucks that it had to happen in a loss or whatever. I feel like I should have even got to that mark a few weeks ago, but there’s just been a lot going on here,” Hall told the gathered media.

“So it’s been tough, but it’s a blessing. And I’m blessed to be in this position, so it was cool.”

To make matters worse, Hall was still playing late in the game of a 42-10 blowout, something that certainly did not sit right with him as a player who is supposed to be a part of the big picture moving forward.

A reporter brought it up to him, and his response was short but spoke volumes.

For a Jets team that seems keen on bringing Hall back in 2026, they certainly seem like they’re doing their best to drive him away.

Eyeing Up ‘Elite Operations’ Around the League

After suffering through the New York Jets’ offensive futilities, Hall sat down to watch the masterclass that was this past weekend’s Sunday Night Football matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears.

Rooting for his former Cyclone teammate, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, Hall gushed about the two teams exchanging blows in a series of posts on X.

Hall likely thought about how he would be used in an offense run by the likes of Ben Johnson and Kyle Shanahan, compared to his last four years with the New York Jets.

It’s totally understandable.

Hall is talented back, and although he has accumulated some incredible numbers during his tenure in New York, it’s clear his skillset would be maximized on a team with better infrastructure.

The Jets can franchise tag Hall, but it remains unclear if they would want him at the projected $14.1 million guaranteed salary that the running back tag will be in 2026, per Over the Cap.

If they allow him to test the free agent market, it would be almost a guarantee he’ll walk, considering how his career is trending after four years in New York.
