Jaguars Get Best News Ever Day After Win Over Broncos

The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Denver Broncos 34-20 to win their sixth consecutive game. The win also put an end to Denver’s 11-game winning streak.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence kept up his strong level of play recently, as he threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. The Jaguars quarterback has now thrown for 26 touchdowns on the year, setting a new career-high.

Head coach Liam Coen has now improved to 11-4 in his first year as the team’s head coach. Following the game he had some strong words directed at Denver’s Sean Payton, he said “Just thankful that a small-market team like us can come into a place like Mile High and get it done.” Regarding the Jaguars being seen as an underdog against other playoff contenders, Coen said “We don’t care. We really don’t care about the narrative. I’m sorry to say that, but it’s only helping us. So I want the narrative to keep coming.”

Jacksonville Jaguars Get Good News

Of course, the best news for Jacksonville happened the day after their impressive win. On Monday Night Football, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Indianapolis Colts 48-27, which officially clinched a playoff berth for the Jacksonville Jaguars. It will mark their first playoff appearance since 2022, when they beat the Chargers in the Wild Card round before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Chiefs.

Despite the playoff berth, the Jaguars still have plenty to play for in their final pair of regular season matchups. They are one game ahead of the Houston Texans, but Houston would move ahead of them if they finish with equal records. Additionally, the Jaguars still have a chance of being the AFC’s No. 1 seed. In order for this to happen, the Jaguars would need to: win their remaining two games, have the Broncos lose one of their next two games, and have the Patriots lose one of their final two games.

For now, Jaguars fans should rejoice in feeling that Jacksonville will once again participate in playoff football. After missing the playoffs for back-to-back seasons, Liam Coen has rebuilt this team and led them into the dance.

Jaguars vs Broncos

As mentioned before, the Jaguars have been treated as underdogs all year long. Impressive games like their 35-6 win over the Chargers did not shift anyone’s perception of Jacksonville. Perhaps snapping Denver’s 11-game win streak and extending their own win streak to six games might help change the narrative, despite Liam Coen’s best wishes.

Denver and Jacksonville were tied at 17 in the third quarter, before the Jaguars reeled off 17-straight points, which put the game out of hand by the fourth quarter. Defensive takeaways by Jacksonville prevented Denver from clawing their way back into the game as the Jaguars picked up perhaps their most impressive win of the season.

Trevor Lawrence led the way as he went 23-for-36 with 279 passing yards and four total touchdowns. Travis Etienne was the team’s leading rusher with 50 yards on 16 carries. He added 16 receiving yards and a touchdown. Parker Washington was the team’s most effective playmaker as he finished with 145 receiving yards on the day.
