Jaguars’ Travis Hunter Reunites with Woman from Airplane

The Jacksonville Jaguars maybe have gotten more than they bargained for when they traded up with the Cleveland Browns in the 2025 NFL Draft. Going from No. 5 to No. 2, the Jaguars were prepared to get both a cornerback and wide receiver when they selected Travis Hunter from the University of Colorado. But, they may have gotten something more; it seems like they also got a really good dude.

You may remember back in May when Hunter helped Sandy Hawkins Combs on an airplane flight from Denver to Jacksonville shortly after the draft. If you haven’t seen it, it’s awesome and gives you some insight into the type of person he is.

Well, on Monday night following a huge Jaguars win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Hunter had a chance to reunite with Combs.

Combs extolled the virtues of Travis Hunter on Facebook after airplane encounter

This whole situation went viral when Combs posted a selfie and shared her encounter on Facebook. You can check it out here.

“I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver,” Combs wrote. “I met the nicest young man who sat next to me. He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying “yes ma’am” or “no ma’am.” Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson—so polite.

“People walking by were saying congratulations, great job, or even taking pictures. I turned and asked him, “Who am I sitting next to?” I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, “Are you an athlete?” He smiled and said, “I’m Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.” I already told my sons I want his jersey.

“He’s so humble and down-to-earth—I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete. JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets. United Airlines, thank you for my seat assignment!”

The recent Tyson Campbell trade shouldn’t affect Travis Hunter

The Jaguars yesterday traded cornerback Tyson Campbell to the Cleveland Browns for cornerback Greg Newsome. You don’t see a position-for-position trade like that very often in the NFL unless it’s a Matthew StaffordJared Goff situation.

It likely stems from the fact that Newsome is a better fit in the Jaguars scheme and he’s on the fifth year option of his rookie deal. Campbell, meanwhile, signed a four-year, $76.5 million extension back in 2024. My guess is the scheme fit had less to do with the trade than the financial disparity.

General manager James Gladstone said in a statement yesterday that it was a football decision.

“We are trying to win football games now and Greg helps us do that, as his skillset is a strong fit for our defensive scheme, which puts more vision on the quarterback and will lean on Greg’s ability to find the football,” Gladstone said. “We will continue to be aggressive, to make us the best possible team this season.”

It doesn’t seem like the deal will affect Hunter too much as they gave up a corner (maybe he’ll play more!), but got one in return (no he won’t!).
