The season opener for the 2025 campaign, held on Sept. 4, was expected to be must-see TV, with the Dallas Cowboys traveling to Lincoln Financial Field to take on their division rival and defending Super Bowl champion, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The classic NFC East divisional clash didn’t disappoint, with the Cowboys taking the defending champions down to the wire in Philadelphia. However, the game took on a completely different tone immediately, with star defensive end Jalen Carter getting ejected for spitting on veteran quarterback Dak Prescott before the first snap of the game.
Ultimately, the Eagles were still able to come out on top without arguably their best defensive player, but it definitely changed the game and added another dynamic to this bitter rivalry.

With the Eagles and Cowboys set to go head-to-head for the second time this season in Week 12 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, the hot topic of discussion is whether there will be any bad blood between Prescott and Carter.
The Eagles star spoke to the media in the locker room on Thursday and set the record straight about being set to face Prescott.
“We’re not worried about that,” Carter said of the Week 1 incident with Prescott. “We’re here where we are right now. And at the end of the day, everyone is playing, so that’s all we’re worried about.”
Carter was also asked how he’s reflected on what happened in Week 1 against the Cowboys.
“I’m not even thinking about it.”
Although it seems as though Carter has put the Week 1 incident with Prescott behind him, there’s bound to be some animosity between the two stars. There’s a decent chance there will be some fireworks on the field on Sunday in Dallas, with Carter likely as motivated as ever to get to the quarterback early and often.

With Prescott and Carter set to face off all game long, there’s bound to be an interaction between the two players. The Cowboys’ star quarterback is fully aware of that fact and was asked this week what he’ll say to the Eagles star during Sunday’s game, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.
“Depends on what he says first, but probably something friendly,” Prescott said. “Get on his good side.”
It’s safe to assume that Carter will be on this best behavior during the Week 12 showdown with the division rival Cowboys, but there’s no question he’ll take every opportunity he can to put Prescott on the ground, with the veteran quarterback likely knows all too well.
Heading into this battle of NFC East rivals, the Cowboys will be the underdog on their home field, with the Eagles currently favored (-3.5) to come out on top and improve their record to 9-2 on the season while taking one step closer to clinching the division title to officially punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs to defend their title.
