Jermaine Eluemunor Makes Promise to Giants Fans After Career First

He reached an important milestone for the first time in his NFL career, but New York Giants offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor still isn’t satisfied. The veteran has promised fans he’ll “clean up” a fatal flaw in his game.

Eluemunor posted on ‘X’ about how he’s “Hit 1k snaps for the first time in my career, my b for the flags need to clean that up but it was a huge goal of mine to hit 1000 snaps this season. First time in 9 seasons I’ve been able to do so.”

That’s an important message from an unheralded player who has become an increasingly valuable presence for Big Blue. Eluemunor has successfully locked down the right tackle spot after the many issues facing high-profile draft flop Evan Neal.

More than adding stability at a key spot along the line of scrimmage, Eluemunor’s size and versatility mean he will retain value beyond this season, an important point for the Giants, who should be reluctant to let the 31-year-old test free agency.

Jermaine Eluemunor Has Things to Fix

Former Las Vegas Raiders blocker Eluemunor has been one of the rare successes for the Giants in their attempts to rebuild the O-line. The 6-foot-4, 338-pounder has brought bulk, aggression and some sound technique to a group long plagued by breakdowns.

His core qualities have helped Eluemunor allow just 19 pressures through 15 games, according to Pro Football Focus. He’s also been flexible enough to play 948 snaps on the right side, two at left tackle, one at right guard and another two as a jumbo tight end.

Numbers like these have Eluemunor primed to earn a bumper payday if he’s allowed to enter the veteran market. The Giants ought to step in before then, but they will want to know Eluemunor can correct his central weakness.

It’s all about reducing the number of flags thrown his way. Specifically, he’s been guilty of nine false starts, but only one holding penalty, per Pro Football Reference.

Getting out of his stance before the snap is an issue of concentration for Eluemunor, although he hasn’t exactly been helped by the carousel the Giants have spun at quarterback. It was Russell Wilson who started the season, before 2025 NFL draft first-round pick Jaxson Dart took the reins, but journeyman backup Jameis Winston has also seen the field.

Every offensive line relies on continuity of communication, especially before the snap. That means having the same signal-caller at the controls for as long as possible.

Dart is set to keep the job, but the Giants will need to continue fortifying the line in front of him.

Giants Still Need O-Line Reinforcements

They should be set on the edges if they re-sign Eluemunor and keep Pro Bowl-worthy left tackle Andrew Thomas healthy, but the Giants still need help along the interior. Guards Jon Ruyan Jr. and Greg Van Roten are ageing, while center John Michael Schmitz has yet to live up the billing as a second-round pick.

There are some potential internal solutions, notably shifting Marcus Mbow, a gifted rookie swing tackle who stepped in after Thomas’ latest ailment, a hamstring injury landed him on injured reserve, to the inside.

What the Giants should really do is spend at these positions in free agency. Fortunately, there are some intriguing options set to be available, including man-mountain Baltimore Ravens right guard Daniel Faalele, along with his teammate Tyler Linderbaum, one of the best centers in the game.

Keeping Eluemunor and Thomas as their bookends, before beefing up in the middle, will turn the line into a team strength for the Giants and Dart.
