Jets’ Aaron Glenn Preaches Positivity, ‘No Quit’ After Loss to Ravens

The New York Jets dropped to 2-9 on Sunday, losing to the red-hot Baltimore Ravens 23-10.

Baltimore won their fifth game in a row, while the Jets, starting Tyrod Taylor for the first time since Week 3, lost their second in as many weeks.

It wasn’t all bad, though. New York fought hard and even held their first halftime lead, a 7-3 advantage, since Week 1 over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Head coach Aaron Glenn was positive after Sunday’s loss, citing his team’s fight throughout the game.

“Tough loss today. I feel bad for the players. I just told them how much I love them and that the effort they gave was outstanding,” Glenn told reporters after the game.

His tune didn’t change on Monday.

Aaron Glenn Likes What He Saw on Sunday

After reviewing the tape of Sunday’s loss, Glenn reiterated his belief in the growth he’s seeing from his New York Jets.

“When it comes to this game, man, there were a lot of good things that I saw on this tape. Things that we’ve been building on this whole season,” Glenn said.

“I’m not just talking about certain positions, I’m just talking about totality as a team…I thought we did a good job of that. But obviously there’s some things we’ve got to do a lot better.”

The Jets’ defense particularly put up a valiant effort on Sunday, and held the Baltimore Ravens in check for most of the first half.

New York had a solid game plan for two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, who had a pedestrian outing for his lofty standards.

Jackson only completed 13 of 23 pass attempts for 153 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

He wasn’t a threat on the ground either, carrying the ball seven times for 11 yards.

Despite the effort, Derrick Henry ripped the game open in the second half, scoring two touchdowns for the Ravens en route to the 23-10 victory.

Regardless, Glenn emphasized the need for New York to learn how to finish out these types of games.

“I’ve been talking about mental toughness with this team for a while, and I know for a fact we’re growing in that aspect, but we have to continue to look at that and understand how to close out games and how to finish games.”

Aaron Glenn Talks About Tyrod Taylor’s Performance

Sunday was the first start for veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor since Week 3, replacing Justin Fields after his benching.

Glenn, continuing his positive analysis, was relatively satisfied with Taylor’s outing.

“I thought he operated very well as far as getting the guys in and out of the huddle, I thought there was a tempo within that that I thought he did a good job of,” Glenn said.

“As far as him handling the situation, especially coming off the week that we had as far as him being the guy and him doing every play, I thought he did a really good job for us.”

In his return to Baltimore, the team that drafted him, Taylor completed 17 of 28 pass attempts for 222 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Despite the low-scoring output, it was fairly obvious that the offense was operating better under the guidance of Taylor as opposed to Fields running the show.

With the way the veteran was getting the ball out to his young playmakers, there’s reason to be excited about this team’s ability to compete down the stretch of an otherwise lost season.
