The New York Jets are once again in the market for a new quarterback.
The Justin Fields experiment didn’t work out to say the least, and a brigade of Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook isn’t going to get you any closer to winning in 2026.
So, what can the Jets do to land their next trigger man?
Thankfully, they’re armed with the most draft capital of any team in the league over the next two years, meaning no avenue is technically off the table.
With all of those first-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027, could New York make a godfather offer to the Cincinnati Bengals for their franchise quarterback, Joe Burrow?
Will Parkinson Floats Blockbuster Joe Burrow Trade Proposal
That’s exactly what New York Jets analyst Will Parkinson posted on his X account following some cryptic messaging in Burrow’s latest press conference.
The host of the Turn on the Jets Podcast proposed the trade as follows:
New York Jets receive: Joe Burrow
Cincinnati Bengals receive: Jets 2026 first-round pick, Jets 2026 second-round pick, 2027 Cowboys first-round pick, 2027 Jets first-round pick, 2027 Jets third-round pick
“So 3 1s and a top 40 2? Basically 4 1s and maybe a player to make salaries match a bit more… Bengals than flushed with basically 5 additional 1s next 12 months to rebuild and draft a QB and Jets have their top 5 QB at age 29 and still have the 2 Colts 1s and the Cowboys 2/Jets 2027 2+ crap ton of cap space to improve the roster.. just a thought,” Parkinson wrote in a post on X.
With an offer of five premier draft picks, the Bengals would have to at least pick up the phone and listen.
Burrow would easily be the best quarterback the Jets have had this century, and while there’s certainly more work to do on the roster, landing the guy under center is the hardest part.
Of course, the odds of Cincinnati cutting ties with the first quarterback to lead them to the Super Bowl since 1989 are slim.
But after Burrow’s recent comments, he might be considering retirement or a change of scenery.
Joe Burrow’s Cryptic Press Conference
On Wednesday, Burrow spoke to the media ahead of their Week 15 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Coming off a demoralizing Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills, which incredibly damaged the Cincinnati Bengals’ playoff odds, Burrow sounded like a guy reflecting on his career.
“You know, I’ve been through a lot, and if it’s not fun, then what am I doing it for? Uh, so that’s the mindset I’m trying to bring to the table,” Burrow said glumly.
“I’m not sure there was a singular moment or time. It’s just a reflection on a lot of things that I’ve done and been through in my career, I think. I’ve been through more than most, and it’s certainly not easy on the brain or the body, so I’m just trying to have fun doing it again.”
“There’s a lot of things going on right now.”
If the former Heisman Trophy winner is having a hard time recapturing his love for the game in Cincinnati, maybe a change of scenery, specifically to New York, would help expedite the process?
