Jets Crowned as One of ‘Most Improved’ NFL Teams of 2025 Offseason

The New York Jets made a lot of changes this offseason, and one writer believes that was for the best.

Nick Shook of the NFL Media Group listed the green and white as one of the “most improved” NFL teams heading into the 2025 season.

“I’ve loved the Jets’ approach since they hired Aaron Glenn as their new coach in January. For the first time in years, New York did not strike a false offseason note, at least to my ears, bolstering the defense with veterans like DL Derrick Nnadi and S Andre Cisco while using a first-round selection on Armand Membou, who should pair with 2024 first-rounder Olumuyiwa Fashanu to give the team a nice set of bookend tackles,” Shook said.

“The Jets’ best pick of this year’s draft might end up being tight end Mason Taylor (Round 2, No. 42 overall), a polished pass-catcher with the potential to make a difference from Day 1,” Shook explained. “The big question mark is Justin Fields, a quarterback who needs to prove himself now that he’s with his third NFL team in as many years. Then again, this feels like his best opportunity to do so, compared to previous situations in Chicago and Pittsburgh.”

The Jets Being an Improved Team From 2024 to 2025 Is up for Debate

Gang Green lost a ton of star power this offseason.

The departure list for the Jets includes former All-Pros (Davante Adams), ex-Pro Bowlers (Haason Reddick), and former league MVPs (Aaron Rodgers).

Based purely on talent, the Jets are less in 2025 than they were in 2024. That doesn’t necessarily guarantee that the Jets will be a worse football team by wins and losses in 2025 compared to 2024.

Last season, Pro Football Focus ranked the Jets as having the No. 4 best roster in the NFL.

“After a busy offseason of adding All-Pros, such as pass rusher Haason Reddick and LT Tyron Smith, and the return of QB Aaron Rodgers from his torn Achilles tendon, the Jets roster appears to be one of the most complete in the NFL from top to bottom,” Jets contributor John Pullano wrote on June, 18 2024.

A year later, PFF ranked the Jets as having the No. 28 best roster in the league.

In one calendar year, the Jets went from having a top-five roster to a bottom-five roster.

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it,” Ferris Bueller said in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

It’s Not All Doom and Gloom for Jets Fans

The Jets are less talented. That is true. However, having a bunch of talent didn’t do anything for the Jets last year. Gang Green only won five games.

The true secret sauce for the green and white will be coaching.

Last year’s coaching was so bad that anything else should be an upgrade, but how much of one? That is the question that could determine what this season ends up transforming into in 2025.

What you won’t see much of over the coming months is hype, Super Bowl expectations, and sexy predictions from analysts.

The Jets are executing the head coach Aaron Glenn’s, plan of “moving in silence.” We’ll see if that translates to more wins this season.
