The New York Jets were dominated by the New England Patriots in a 42â10 loss at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Despite being routed by 32 points at home against a division rival, head coach Aaron Glenn said Monday that he did not see an effort issue from his team during the game.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini wrote, “One day after criticizing the teamâs effort, Aaron Glenn backtracks. After watching the film, he says, he didnât see an effort issue: ‘Our guys did not quit.’ Hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube on something like this.”
Including yesterdayâs embarrassing performance, the Jets have been outscored 153â46 over their past four games, meaning they have lost by an average of 26.75 points per game during that stretch.
“The minus-107 point differential is the worst in NFL history for the month of December, according to ESPN Research. They became the second team in the Super Bowl era to lose four straight games, all by at least 23 points, joining the 1972 Patriots,” wrote Cimini.
It is reasonable to question a teamâs effort and competitiveness when it has lost each of its past four games by at least 23 points.
One thing to note is that the Jets have undergone many on-field changes since the season opener.
“Amid the Jets’ criticism, there’s one thing to keep in mind: 18 of the 47 players who dressed yesterday weren’t on the opening-day 53. That includes seven of the 17 players who saw action on defense — the definition of patchwork,” wrote Cimini.

Players Speak Out After Loss
When defensive end Jermaine Johnson was asked whether he believes the team is still âbought in,â he said, “That’s not in my wheelhouse. I’m in control of how I am for the team. Everybody should be like that. Be a thumb pointer, you’ve got to look yourself in the mirror. You know if you’re bought in or if you’ve given up on whatever is going on. I think the character of these guys, everybody is bought in and has been giving their all.” (SNYJets on X)
Several other Jets players showed frustration after their loss to the Patriots.
âIt’s unacceptable. As a man, as a team, that’s not something you want to go put on display,â said wide receiver Isaiah Williams (SNYJets on X).
Linebacker Quincy Williams said, âShow pride, show the reason why you play this game, show the reason why you picked to be a Jet.â (SNYJets on X)

Others Question The Team
Following Sundayâs loss on SNYâs Jets Post Game Live, former Jet Willie Colon said, âThere needs to be a bigger level of accountability of who is believing in the brand.â
SNYâs Connor Rogers added concern about Glenn’s coaching performance, saying, âThe problem is, the promises that he came with…we haven’t seen any of it.â
At 3â13, this was definitely not the season the Jets and their fans dreamed of. The only real silver lining from Sunday is that the team moved up to the third overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
