Jets DB Kris Boyd Had Setback After Getting Shot, Returns to Hospital

New York Jets defensive back Kris Boyd has suffered a medical setback in his recovery after being shot.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini shared an update from Boyd’s Instagram story, “Please bare with me, I haven’t been in communication much… I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues… I love and appreciate every one of yall dearly who prayed and reached out, even if I can’t get back to you! 💚 Head HIGH, God is not through with me yet!! 💚💚”

He was originally hospitalized on November 16 after suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Boyd had to undergo multiple medical procedures to address the injury.

“He was taken to Bellevue Hospital and underwent a series of procedures to address a bullet that had become lodged in his pulmonary artery,” Denny Alfonso of The Athletic wrote.

Head coach Aaron Glenn said on November 20 that Boyd was expected to make a full recovery.

Head Coach Aaron Glenn Breaks Silence on Latest Boyd Update

“Well, the last that we heard, he had an issue, and he had to go back to the hospital. Other than that, we need to figure that out,” head coach Aaron Glenn responded when asked about a Boyd update on Friday, November 28.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini reached out to a Jets spokesman but didn’t receive any further update.

New Injury to Keep an Eye out For

The Jets had one of their healthiest injury reports of the entire season in Week 13. There has been a new wrinkle sprinkled in ahead of the Atlanta Falcons contest.

The only real injury of note was veteran defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. He was listed with a foot problem. Phillips didn’t practice on Wednesday, was listed as a limited participant on Thursday, and then was a full participant on Friday.

He is officially listed as questionable for the game on Sunday.

Joe Tippmann wasn’t at practice on Thursday, which raised alarm bells. However, the team quickly explained that he didn’t practice on Thanksgiving due to a personal reason. Tippmann returned as a full participant on Friday and wasn’t listed with an injury designation for the game.

Coach Glenn said there wasn’t any new information to provide on the injury report on Friday. However, when the injury report popped up, a new name appeared: cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

Brownlee got injured somewhere between the end of practice on Thursday and the beginning of practice on Friday. He didn’t practice on Friday due to a hip issue. Brownlee is officially listed as questionable for the contest.

Betting Line on Jets-Falcons Game in Week 13

The green and white opened as a 1.5-point underdog at home versus Atlanta. Since that opening line, more money has come the Falcons’ way, with them now being a 2.5-point favorite, per Vegas Insider.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Falcons are a 55.8% favorite to beat the Jets.

The green and white have lost two games in a row after winning two consecutive games previously. Gang Green will host the Falcons at MetLife Stadium.
