Jets Defender Recruits Suddenly Available Pro Bowler to Join Team

A brand new member of the New York Jets is attempting to recruit some fresh meat to the team.

Starting cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr took to social media in an attempt to lure suddenly available three-time Pro Bowl safety Quandre Diggs to the Jets.

“Come be a jet ✈️ brodie,” Brownlee tweeted at Diggs on social media.

Diggs has yet to respond to Brownlee’s message on social media.

Diggs Is Now Available to Sign With Any NFL Team

Diggs, 32, entered the league as the No. 200 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL draft.

He spent the first five years of his career with the Detroit Lions. In 2019, he was traded along with a 2021 seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2020 fifth-round pick.

Diggs then spent the next five years with the Seahawks. He was released by Seattle in 2024. Most recently, Diggs has been with the Tennessee Titans.

However, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, “The Titans did right by safety Quandre Diggs, who asked for and received his release. He now heads to waivers and will be free if he clears.”

Diggs cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team.

An Impressive Resume

Diggs is a three-time Pro Bowler. He stands in at 5-foot-9 and weighs 197 pounds.

He has appeared in 154 games and has made 124 starts. With those opportunities, Diggs has racked up 24 interceptions, 57 pass deflections, five forced fumbles, a sack, 15 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, and has collected 652 tackles.

Throughout his decorated career, Diggs has experience playing safety and in the slot.

Jets Need Help in the Secondary Desperately

The green and white have been dealing with an array of issues on the backend of their defense.

Andre Cisco, one of the starters at safety, tore his pec in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed he will miss the rest of the season.

Ahead of the Tuesday, November 4, the NFL trade deadline, the Jets moved superstar cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts. Gang Green also agreed to a separate deal that shipped off Michael Carter II to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets’ initial answer to Gardner being gone was starting rookie corner Azareye’h Thomas in his place. That plan lasted just part of the game in Week 10. Thomas suffered a concussion against the Cleveland Browns and was already ruled out for the Week 11 contest against the New England Patriots.

The Jets did some wild roster shuffling in the middle of the Browns game. It remains to be seen if they will utilize that same lineup against the Pats.

Brownlee, who had been playing in the slot, bounced outside. Rookie safety Malachi Moore shifted inside to the nickel. Isaiah Oliver, who has served as a do-it-all man for the Jets, went to safety.

Undrafted free agent defensive back Dean Clark, who was recently signed to the 53-man roster, floated between multiple roles.

The Jets figured it out in the moment. However, adding a proven veteran like Diggs would give the Jets more quality options on the backend of their defense.
