Jets Dump 26-Year-Old OL After Failed Trade Talks

The New York Jets are releasing offensive tackle Carter Warren.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter was first on the news on Tuesday, August 26. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler labeled Warren as “quality offensive tackle depth” and expressed that he had some interest in the trade market.

However, those supposed trade talks didn’t amount to anything, and now Warren finds himself a free agent looking for a new home.

Warren, 26, entered the league as the No. 120 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft out of Pittsburgh.

Insider Explains the Brutal Truth About Warren’s Departure

“Not a surprise. The 2023 fourth-round pick couldn’t win the swing tackle role,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini explained.

The Jets brought in some new bodies to the offensive line room this offseason. Players like Josh Myers and Chukwuma Okorafor were brought in as depth pieces and competition for the starting center and right tackle jobs, respectively.

When that ink was dry, they took two roster spots that otherwise could have gone to players like Warren.

Jets Make Surprising Cut in the Defensive Backfield

“The Jets are waiving CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse,” NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero shared on social media.

Bernard-Converse, 25, was the No. 204 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft.

“I DO NOT get the Jarrick Bernard-Converse release. Should be the team’s primary dime CB. Feels like another Jason Pinnock situation. Not a fan at all,” The Jet Press posted on social media.
