Jets Predicted to Add Dynamic Pass Catcher to Pair With Garrett Wilson

The New York Jets could pass up on a quarterback to add another piece on offense.

NFL draft analyst Dane Brugler released his first mock draft for 2026 via The Athletic. In that mock draft scenario, Brugler predicted that the Jets would select Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the No. 7 overall pick in the first round.

“Who will be quarterbacking the Jets in 2026? General manager Darren Mougey has plenty of draft capital to move up for a QB, but it also wouldn’t be surprising to see New York continue to build up its roster, go with a bridge option under center, and target a 2027 prospect. Durability concerns are a part of his evaluation, but Tyson reminds me of prime Stefon Diggs with his ability to create space and win at the catch point,” Brugler wrote.

Jets Need to Find a Robin to Garrett Wilson’s Batman

Tyson, 21, is listed at 6-foot-1 and weighs 195 pounds.

He spent the first year of his collegiate career at Colorado. After that 2022 campaign, Tyson transferred to Arizona State, where he has been for the last three seasons.

In his career, Tyson has collected 158 receptions for 2,282 receiving yards and has scored 23 total touchdowns.

The big concern with Tyson is his injury history at the college level.

“Perhaps more concerning is Tyson’s injury history. A significant knee injury ended his Colorado tenure and all but eliminated his 2023 campaign. In 2024, a collarbone injury held him out of Arizona State’s playoff games. Now, a hamstring injury has cost him at least a month of his platform season,” Anthony Licciardi wrote for the Sporting News.

One of the Jets’ big tasks this upcoming offseason is finding a Robin to Garrett Wilson’s Batman at wide receiver. General manager Darren Mougey has done a nice job of finding complementary pieces on offense, but they lack that true X-Factor that can draw attention away from Wilson consistently.

Insider Gives Warning for Jets to Heed Heading Into the Offseason

“My first mock draft of the year drops in the morning. Be ready to trade up if you want a QB,” Brugler wrote on social media.

If the Jets want to trade up, they certainly have the assets to pull off that type of move.

Gang Green has five first-round draft choices and three second-round picks over the next two years.

The good news is that the Jets don’t have to force the issue. If they don’t like one of the quarterbacks in this class, no problem, they can fill the other holes on this roster and wait for the 2027 NFL draft.

In Brugler’s mock draft scenario, he predicted not one but two trade-ups for a team to select a quarterback.

He projected that the Cleveland Browns would trade both of their first-rounders in 2026 and a day two selection in 2027 to land the No. 1 overall pick from the Tennessee Titans. Cleveland moved up from the No. 5 overall pick in this scenario.

Then he had the Las Vegas Raiders strike a deal with the New York Giants for the No. 2 overall pick in the first round to select the quarterback of their dreams.

Three quarterbacks ended up going in the first round of Brugler’s mock draft 1.0.
