Jets RB Breece Hall Is Ready to Make NFL History in 2025

New York Jets running back Breece Hall hasn’t rushed for 1,000 yards yet in his NFL career.

However, he thinks he is capable of so much more.

“I can receive and I can run the ball. For me, it’s not more so rushing the ball, it’s just about my total output because I can be a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiving back. I feel like for me it’s just more so about me getting my touches, I just need to touch the ball and I feel like whenever I touch the ball I can make a big play out of it,” Hall told former NFL players Marshawn Lynch and Michael Robinson during an appearance on the “Get Got Pod.”

For context, only three players in NFL history have ever rushed and received for 1,000 yards in a single season. Those players were Roger Craig (1985), Marshall Faulk (1999), and Christian McCaffrey (2019).

Hall Has a Path Toward That Type of Production With the Jets

On the Jets offense, there is one dynamic player who is going to get the ball a ton in 2025, Garrett Wilson.

Head coach Aaron Glenn has said on multiple occasions this offseason that they plan on feeding Wilson early and often.

“Give him the ball as much as possible. Give him the ball as much as possible. That’s it,” Glenn told the local media via The Coachspeak Index on X previously Twitter.

New Jets offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand reiterated the same Glenn messaging on Wilson’s role in this offense.

“I’m in on it,” Engstrand said, referencing Glenn’s message.

Even if Garrett eats as much as they believe he will, there is still plenty of food on the table for someone else to thrive on offense.

Hall enters the conversation.

“Breece has shown in his career that he can run the football, whether that is inside between the tackles or outside and in the pass game. He has caught a ton of passes in his career, which is very beneficial for us,” Engstrand added.

Putting Hall’s Goals Into Context

If Hall wants to accomplish his lofty goal, here is how the math breaks down. There are 17 games in the regular season. If his goal is 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards, you just have to divide 1,000 by 17 games.

He needs to average 59 rushing and receiving yards per game to reach that milestone.

20 running backs last season averaged over 59 rushing yards per game, per ESPN. 36 players last season averaged over 59 receiving yards per game, per ESPN. 33 of those players were wide receivers, and three of those players were tight ends.

Obviously, no running back accomplished that feat in 2024, but what Hall has going for him is the lack of other weapons on the offensive side of the ball. There is a realistic path for Hall to be No. 2 in targets behind Wilson in 2025.
