Jets Receive Concerning News Ahead of Jaguars Game

The New York Jets are facing long odds in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Not only is the team a 13.5-point underdog on the road, the largest point spread of the week per Vegas Insider, but the Jets are dealing with a laundry list of injuries.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini noted that the Jets had 10 players sit out of practice on Wednesday, December 10.

Breece Hall Sits out of Practice

Not a lot has gone right for the Jets amid a 3-10 start to the 2025 season. One of the lone bright spots has been the play of running back Breece Hall.

Hall, 24, has appeared in all 13 games for the Jets this season to date. He has toted the rock 201 times for 877 rushing yards and has averaged 4.4 yards per carry. In the passing game, Hall has added 30 receptions for 309 receiving yards.

The former Iowa State product has scored five total touchdowns. The Jets are undefeated in games in which Hall scored a touchdown. He is on pace for the first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career.

He was one of 10 players who sat out of practice for the Jets on Wednesday. Hall was listed with a knee injury.

“Listen, he has a little soreness with his knee, just like a number of these guys. At this point in the year, listen for Week 15, for us just to hit this now — I’m pretty impressed with the way the guys have been taking care of themselves. Again, a lot of it is just maintenance for the most part, so we get our guys rested to play,” head coach Aaron Glenn explained to the media.

Jets Are Dealing With Quarterback Hell

Neither of the Jets’ top two players on the quarterback depth chart practiced on Wednesday.

Tyrod Taylor is dealing with a groin and Justin Fields is also battling knee soreness. That means the undrafted free agent Brady Cook received all of the first-team reps in the first practice ahead of the Jaguars game. The QB2 behind Cook in practice was newly signed Adrian Martinez. He was cut by the San Francisco 49ers this week.

If Cook has to start on Sunday, he would become the third different QB to start a game for the Jets this season.

Over the last 11 seasons, the Jets have started at least three different quarterbacks in a single year five times — if it happens on Sunday, that would be the sixth time in 11 seasons.

Jets Pro Bowl Representatives Are in Short Supply

This shouldn’t exactly be a shocking revelation, but there aren’t many Jets that are in the thick of the Pro Bowl voting.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini revealed this week that only two Jets players are in the top 10 at their respective positions in the Pro Bowl voting process.

That group includes punter Austin McNamara (fifth most votes among punters) and fullback Andrew Beck (sixth most votes among fullbacks). That’s the full list.

Pro Bowl voting is a popularity contest. The Jets aren’t a very sexy team at 3-10 overall and just missing the playoffs for a 15th consecutive season.
