Jets Receive Great News After Getting Destroyed by Patriots

The New York Jets may have been embarrassed by the New England Patriots in Week 17.

However, there was a silver lining for Jets fans to chew on.

Old friend Morgan Moses, who played for the Jets in two separate stints, earned a $1.5 million “playtime incentive” with the Patriots on Sunday, December 28.

According to Nick Korte of Over The Cap, that Christmas bonus raised the value of his contract as it pertains to the compensatory pick formula.

In other words, the Jets were originally projected to get a 2026 seventh-round pick; however, this bonus now means they are projected to receive a 2026 fifth-round pick.

Moses Has Been a Stalwart for Pats, Which Is Great for Jets

Moses, 34, joined the Patriots this offseason on a three-year $24 million contract.

He has started in 16 out of 16 possible games this season, heading into the regular season finale next week.

According to Pro Football Reference, Moses has appeared in 96% of the snaps so far this season. That is the most snaps that Moses has appeared in five years (2020).

The former Virginia product joined the Jets over the summer in 2021 after getting cut by the Washington Commanders. He played a season with the Jets, then bolted for the Baltimore Ravens in free agency.

During the 2024 offseason, the Ravens slapped a return-to-sender label and traded him back to the Jets.

All in all, Moses has appeared in 31 games and has made 30 starts during his Jets tenure. He was praised for his leadership and the ability to play through injuries.

Evaluating the Jets Treasure Chest of Draft Picks

The Jets are terrible. They boast a 3-13 record with one game remaining in the 2025 regular season.

It’ll be a road trip to play the Buffalo Bills in the final game in that building before they move across the street. According to Vegas Insider, Buffalo opened as a 9.5-point favorite at home, but that number is sure to grow throughout the week.

In the Jets’ 65-year history, they have only lost 14 or more games in a season twice: 1996 (1-15) and 2020 (2-14). However, this 2025 group could join that illustrious crew if they lose to Buffalo on Sunday.

Not great.

However, in much brighter news, the Jets are slated to have a treasure trove of picks this offseason. Nick Korte of Over The Cap highlighted that haul on social media, including picks acquired via trade and the projected comp pick formula.

The Jets will have two first-round picks, their own and the Indianapolis Colts’ top pick. They will have a pair of second-rounders, their own and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Jets will have their own fourth-round pick.

They will now receive a pair of fifth-round picks: the aforementioned Moses bump and for losing Haason Reddick in free agency. They will have a sixth-round draft choice from their previous trade with the Bills for Brandon Codrington.

Finally, they’re set to have three seventh-round draft choices from previous trades and a comp pick from losing Tyler Conklin to the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency.

All in all, the Jets are projected to have 11 picks in the 2026 NFL draft.
