Jets Star Named as Running Back Most Likely to Be Traded at Deadline

Six games into the 2025 NFL campaign, virtually nothing has gone right for the New York Jets. Despite having a new regime, led by first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, taking over the team, the Jets have lost each of their first six games, and while they have generally managed to remain competitive, they have some serious issues that are proving to be very difficult to overcome.

As a result, New York is widely expected to operate as a seller ahead of the upcoming trade deadline, and they have several players who could generate interest across the league. One of those players is star running back Breece Hall, and a recent report offered an eye-opening assessment when it comes to his chances of getting traded over the next couple of weeks.

Jets’ Breece Hall Viewed as Likely to Get Traded

The Jets selected Hall in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and when he’s been healthy, he’s been one of the more explosive playmakers in the league. The problem is that, during his time in New York, the team’s offense has often been a mess, which has limited his overall production. Unsurprisingly, that has continued in the 2025 campaign.

Hall has racked up 410 yards on 88 carries (good for 4.7 yards per carry) and 17 receptions for 150 yards, but he’s yet to find the end zone through six games, and given the way the Jets’ offense is trending, that doesn’t seem likely to change anytime soon. If New York continues to lose, the trade rumors surrounding Hall are only going to pick up more steam.

Making a trade more likely is the fact that Hall is in the final year of his rookie contract, and the team also has a pair of younger running backs, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, that they are also fond of. With that in mind, a recent report indicates that Hall very well may be the running back most likely to get traded ahead of the upcoming deadline.

“The name that comes up most is the Jets’ Breece Hall,” Dan Graziano wrote for ESPN. “He’s 24 years old and in the final year of his contract, and the Jets have made no move to sign him long term … There are plenty of reasons Hall might not be in the Jets’ long-range plans, and they could be open to a nice offer. Teams I expect to have interest in acquiring a running back ahead of the deadline include, but are not limited to, the Chiefs, Texans and Chargers.”

Should the Jets Trade Breece Hall?

In the public eye, Hall has largely indicated he does not want to be traded, although a recent social media post that he shared with the caption “#Free20” could indicate a shift in his feelings. If he wants out of New York, the front office would be wise to adhere to his trade request and move him before it’s too late.

Pulling off a trade in the NFL is a tough process, but the time could be now for the Jets to unload Hall. He doesn’t seem to be happy with the state of the offense, and considering how he’s in the final year of his contract, if he wants to leave, he very likely will do so over the offseason when he hits free agency if he is still a member of the team. Regardless of what happens, Hall’s status is worth monitoring ahead of the trade deadline, which is set for 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
