ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter revealed that the Minnesota Vikings are sending defensive tackle Harrison Phillips and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Jets in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.

Schefter said this trade is “pending Phillips’ physical.”
A Once Hated Rival Now Becomes a Key Cog on the D-Line
Phillips, 29, has two years remaining on his $15 million contract.
The former Stanford product entered the league as the No. 96 overall pick in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft.
Phillips’ name should be familiar to Jets fans because he spent the first four years of his career with the Buffalo Bills.
Across his seven seasons in the league, Phillips has racked up eight sacks, 314 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 30 quarterback hits, five fumble recoveries, and 10 pass deflections.
Jets Pull off Another Trade Hours Later
General manager Darren Mougey is cooking on Wednesday, August 20.
This new deal brings in Phillips, but the Jets also acquired another defensive lineman hours earlier.
The Jets struck a deal with the Cleveland Browns to add Jowon Briggs. New York sent a 2026 sixth-round pick for Briggs and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
The Jets have now bolstered their defensive line ahead of the preseason finale versus the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, August 22.

“Harrison Phillips, 29, has 62 career starts. I’d say he projects as the likely starter alongside Quinnen Williams. Possible depth chart (probably keep 4 or 5): DT Williams [Jay] Tufele, [Leonard] Taylor, DT Phillips, Briggs, [Derrick] Nnadi, [and] Injured: [Byron] Cowart,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini said on X previously Twitter.

“Jets loading up on DTs. Harrison Phillips is notable. The 29-year-old should provide an upgrade next to Quinnen Williams. He’s owed a $7M salary in 2025 (all guaranteed) and $6.89M in 2026 (all nonguaranteed),” Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic posted.

“Man there’s zero reason Dallas shouldn’t have done that Harrison Phillips deal. Those are the types of move good front offices make (I can’t believe I’m walking about the Jets like this) do,” NFL analyst Connor Livesay wrote.
