Jets WR Listed as Trade Option for Vikings Ahead of Preseason Finale

The New York Jets might not be done making moves.

NFL Media Group’s Kevin Patra named Allen Lazard as a trade option for the Minnesota Vikings to consider ahead of the season.

“With Jordan Addison suspended and multiple injuries, the Vikings are seriously exploring veteran receivers in the trade market, per sources. All-Pro Justin Jefferson (hamstring) is on track for Week 1. His early-season running mate may not be on the roster,” NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero revealed on social media.

“No trade is imminent. But Minnesota is actively looking, with six days to cutdown,” Pelissero added.

Health Is the Big Question for Lazard

“Allen Lazard could be a trade candidate out of New York if he’s healthy,” Patra said.

Lazard, 29, hurt his shoulder for the Jets during the Green Bay Packers’ preseason game. He was spotted in a sling in the middle of the contest.

Head coach Aaron Glenn said he’d be out for two weeks, which put his availability for Week 1 somewhat in question.

Lazard did not participate in the final public training camp practice on Wednesday, August 20.

WR Moves Are Coming on the Horizon

NFL Insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic shared on X previously Twitter that three teams were among those “monitoring the trade market for potential wide receiver additions.”

Those teams making calls, according to Russini, were the Jets, Vikings, and the San Francisco 49ers.

Well, you can now cross the 49ers off the list.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport shared on Wednesday, August 20, that the Kansas City Chiefs traded Skyy Moore to San Francisco “in a swap of future 6th and 7th round picks.”

That just leaves the Jets and the Vikings. Perhaps they could be partners with each other.

Lazard on the Jets roster is redundant because they also have Josh Reynolds. They are big, physical wide receivers who can block and be serviceable as pass catchers.

While the Jets were also listed as a team seeking a pass catcher, they need more reliability and star power next to Garrett Wilson.

Lazard ain’t it.

Jets-Vikings Already Made One Trade

If the Jets and Minnesota can swing a deal, it won’t be the first time.

Earlier on Wednesday, August 20, the Jets landed some much-needed brutus beefcake on the defensive line.

“The full trade: Jets get: Harrison Phillips [and a] 2027 7th-round pick. The Vikings get: [a] 2026 6th-round pick [and a] 2027 6th-round pick. It’ll be finalized in the next couple days,” NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero explained.
