Joey Bosa Sends Strong Message on Bills’ 2nd Half Dominance After Patriots Win

For much of the first half of the Buffalo Bills‘ Week 15 matchup against the New England Patriots, the team appeared to be dead in the water. Less than 30 minutes of football later, though, Joey Bosa deflected a pass attempt from Drake Maye on 4th & 5 late in the fourth quarter, which effectively secured a huge 35-31 victory for the Bills.

In what’s becoming a bit of a recurring theme for Buffalo, the team managed to overcome a slow start (which, in this case, saw them fall behind 21-0 in the first half) and rally for a massive victory in the second half. Of all the games the Bills have won this season, though, Bosa admitted after the game that this may be the biggest of the bunch.

Joey Bosa Dishes on Bills’ Huge Win vs. Patriots

The Bills knew just how high the stakes were entering this game. If they let the Patriots beat them, their chances of winning the AFC East division were over. With a win, though, Buffalo would manage to keep the door open, even though New England would still have the inside track. And with a furious second-half rally, the Bills managed to keep their hopes of winning the division alive.

After missing Buffalo’s big win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14 with a hamstring injury, Bosa was able to return to the field for his team in Week 15. He didn’t exactly have his biggest game, as he failed to record a single tackle, but with the game on the line, Bosa helped close out New England’s dangerous offense.

In a perfect world, the Bills wouldn’t wait to play their best football until the second half of games, but at the end of the day, a win is a win. Beyond that, taking down the Patriots hasn’t exactly proven to be an easy task this season, and in Bosa’s eyes, that makes this comeback win all the more impressive for Buffalo.

“I think we’ve proved that when we play together, we can be a really effective defense,” Bosa said after the game. “We just have to learn that we can. That’s one of the best teams in the league, so being able to come back and finish with a win is huge.”

Even with this win, the Bills still trail the Patriots by a game in the AFC East standings, and if they end up finishing with the same record, it’s worth noting that New England holds a series of tiebreakers over Buffalo. Still, this isn’t the first time the Bills have found themselves in this scenario, as they erased a two-game deficit over the final four games of the 2021 season to steal the division from the Pats.

It’s worth noting that this N.E. team appears to be significantly better than its 2021 squad, but anything is possible when Josh Allen is on the field for the Bills. All the team can look to do now is keep the pressure on the Patriots, and they should be able to do that in Week 16, as a matchup with the lowly Cleveland Browns awaits them.
