While Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is enjoying an eventful offseason after tying the knot with actress Hailee Steinfeld, he received less-than-stellar news 10 days before their wedding.
Allen remembers the exact day because it was his 29th birthday. The NFL announced on May 21 that the Bills would be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” docuseries for the first time in franchise history. The Sports Emmy-winning series will offer viewers an exclusive look at the team during training camp at St. John Fisher University.
While fans are excited to get a close-up look at Allen and Co., the league’s reigning Most Valuable Player wasn’t thrilled.
“It was quite a surprise,” Allen told USA Today Sports. “Typically, teams that make the playoffs were never a part of that conversation.”

Until 2024, teams that had made the playoffs in the past two seasons, been featured on the show in the past decade, or hired a new coach were exempt from consideration. Now, the playoff rule is gone, and teams can be featured every eight years.
“I probably, initially, didn’t react too great to it,” Allen admitted. But looking at the situation as glass half-full, “I do think it’s a cool opportunity for people to see some of the great men we have on our team and some of the great women we have in our staff as a whole.”
Josh Allen Sent a Strong Message to His Team Before The Cameras Started Rolling At Training Camp

Allen sent a clear message to his teammates before the start of training camp on July 23. “First and foremost, cannot let it become a distraction,” Allen told Fox News Digital in an interview published on July 17.
“Got to keep the main thing, the main thing, and that’s trying to be the best we can be on the field. Making sure we’re doing everything right, and not letting the cameras distract us. I think that’s going to be a sign of a good team.”
“You want to be a star and the face of this and that and the other? Let your play take care of it. Still be yourself and let your personality out. I think Coach [Sean] McDermott has been doing a great job ever since I was rookie of making sure, whoever you are, be that person all the time, right? Being as authentic as possible is one of the greatest qualities that you can have, and this is no different.”
Will Hailee Steinfeld Be Featured With Josh Allen on ‘Hard Knocks’?

While significant others play a starring role on Netflix’s “Quarterback” docuseries, it seems unlikely that Steinfeld, who prefers not to be shown on the jumbotron at Bills games, will be featured on “Hard Knocks.”
Allen and the Oscar-nominated actress began sharing more details about their relationship after announcing their engagement last year; however, allowing a camera crew into their home seems unlikely.
While Allen will likely mention his wife on the show, the series will be centered around the Bills preparing for their final season at Highmark Stadium in hopes of winning the Lombardi Trophy.
“We’re kind of the first team that’s coming from the playoffs to be on it, in terms of the training camp portion of it,” he told Fox News Digital. “So, yeah, it’s going to be a little different, but we got a lot of veteran leadership in the locker room and a lot of young guys who we’re going to have to take on our shoulders and be like, ‘Hey, this is how we’re doing it.’”
