Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson and rumored new girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion have social media buzzing after the two stars have been teasing a new relationship. Thompson recently took to Instagram to post photos from the Bahamas with several images appearing to feature Megan Thee Stallion.
The musician also posted photos on social media with what appears to be Thompson in the background.
“Rumors about the Dallas Mavericks guard and Grammy-award winner’s relationship started swirling after the rapper, birth name Megan Pete, posted a photo on Instagram on Thursday,” ESPN’s Anthony Gharib detailed in a July 13, 2025, story titled, “Klay Thompson seemingly confirms relationship with rapper Megan Thee Stallion.” “As Pete posed next to a pool, fans spotted what looked to be Thompson laying in the background.
“Thompson took matters into his own hands with his own Instagram post Saturday. In one slide, the four-time NBA champion posed alongside someone, presumed to be Pete, facing away from the camera. Another slide included a snap of him holding hands with someone — also believed to be Pete.”
Thompson’s latest social media activity not only has fans buzzing but also garnered attention from some of the top NBA hoopers.

Both Thompson and the rapper have been a bit cryptic on their relationship status. Thompson did not share any photos with Megan Thee Stallion’s face included. Yet, ABC News reports that the two are “officially an item.”
“Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson are officially an item!” ABC’s Shafiq Najib wrote in a July 13, story titled, “Megan Thee Stallion and NBA star Klay Thompson are dating: Source.” “The Grammy-winning rapper is dating the Dallas Mavericks guard, a source confirmed to “Good Morning America” on Sunday.
“Megan Thee Stallion teases 2024 summer tour, talks using music as ‘therapy’. The confirmation comes after Thompson shared photos on Instagram Saturday featuring Megan, including one of the two kissing and another of them holding hands.”

Despite no longer being teammates, both Thompson and Durant have spoken glowingly about each other. During a 2021 interview on the “All the Smoke” podcast, Thompson emphasized that Durant does not get the respect his accomplishments deserve.
“That’s why it bothers me when people don’t talk about Kevin’s greatness,” Thompson said at the time, per Bleacher Report. “This man averaged 35 and 15 in the Finals.
“… That’s like Shaq numbers. Like, what are we doing here? It’s like, ‘He’s a bus rider’ and all this stuff. You can’t argue with the numbers. 35 and 15.”
As for Thompson’s upcoming season with the Mavericks, there will be a lot more eyes on the franchise with the addition of No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg. If Kyrie Irving is able to return this upcoming season, the Mavericks boast a nice combo of stars with Thompson and Anthony Davis.
Thompson’s new relationship status is also sure to generate plenty of buzz during the season as well.
