Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson introduced his girlfriend, Megan Thee Stallion, to “Captain Klay” in his return to the Bay Area ahead of Thursday’s Christmas Day clash against the Golden State Warriors.
As seen in the video below, Thompson took two special guests, Megan Thee Stallion and her dog, Foe Thee Frenchie, on a special Christmas Eve boat ride.
Thompson could be heard saying that the rapper had all her boating terminology down before flexing with his iced-out chain, which she gifted him back in October. The video ends with Thompson referring to Megan as “Big Captain” while she seemingly has control over the boat’s controls, until she corrects him by saying, “Co-Captain.”

Klay Thompson Named Boat After Megan
Earlier this month, the former Warriors star revealed he named his boat after his Grammy-winning girlfriend, naming it “SS Stallion, Houston, Texas” in big blue letters.
Megan, who went public with the four-time NBA champion over the summer, has been a constant presence at the Thompson household since they became an item. She also received a seal of approval from Thompson’s father, Mycal Thompson, after she showcased her cooking skills this past Thanksgiving.
“Thanksgiving dinner was the best Thanksgiving food I’ve ever eaten,” Mycal told ESPN Los Angeles on Nov. 29. “Megan Thee Stallion should be Megan Thee Chef. That’s how good the food was. It was unbelievable. It was one of the best thanksgivings we’ve ever had, thanks to Megan.”
Warriors Christmas Day Tradition
The Warriors-Mavericks game on Christmas Day continues a Warriors Christmas tradition going back to the 2013-14 season, when Stephen Curry and Co. faced Chris Paul’s LA Clippers in a fierce contest at the Oracle Arena.
Since then, the Warriors have played every year on Christmas Day, going 6-6 in the 12 games since 2013. Last year, they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, 115-113, a year after suffering a loss to Nikola Jokić’s Denver Nuggets.
Curry realizes it’s a blessing to be featured on the NBA on Christmas Day broadcasts, the games that typically record the highest viewership of the basketball season.
“It’s a blessing because you understand being one of the 10 teams that play means you’re marketable,” Curry told ESPN. “The experience of playing in the game is fun. … Before the in-season tournament, that was the NBA’s biggest moment before the turn of the calendar year. Definitely felt like a different energy around it.”
Draymond Green, though, thinks it “sucks” to play on Christmas Day on a human level, even though he understands the NBA’s business decision.
“As an NBA player, you want to be on that stage — marquee games and everybody’s watching,” Green told ESPN. “But as a human, it f—ing sucks, if I’m honest.
“… I absolutely loved as a kid watching NBA games on Christmas Day. Kobe Bryant and the white [Lakers] jerseys. I loved [Shaquille O’Neal]. … But the NFL has started having games on Christmas Day, so maybe they take Christmas over and we go home.”
This year, Green and Curry will welcome back their former teammate, Klay Thompson, to the Chase Center for the first time since “Captain Klay” departed for Dallas in 2024.
The Warriors versus Mavericks game will tip off at 5 p.m. ET on Christmas Day.
