Already without OG Anunoby and Landry Shamet, the New York Knicks are now at risk of entering Monday’s road game against the Brooklyn Nets without their starting center.
Mitchell Robinson has been listed as questionable due to illness in the league’s official injury report. His status looms large for a Knicks team struggling to stay healthy early in the season.

Robinson, who has already missed six games this year while managing a nagging ankle injury, has been one of the league’s most impactful rebounders when on the court.
In nine appearances, Robinson has averaged 8.2 rebounds, 4.0 points and 1.1 blocks in just 17.1 minutes per game, including elite production on the offensive glass. His 5.6 offensive rebounds per 36 minutes would lead the NBA if he qualified.
Shamet Injury Compounds Knicks’ Challenges
The Knicks were dealt another blow Saturday when Shamet suffered a right shoulder injury early in their 133–121 loss to the Orlando Magic. Shamet exited less than three minutes into the game after colliding with Wendell Carter Jr. at midcourt, leaving the floor in visible pain.
The injury resembled the right shoulder dislocation that sidelined Shamet during the preseason last year. He ultimately bypassed surgery to rehab the joint, a decision that left him vulnerable to recurrence.
Head coach Mike Brown confirmed that Shamet will undergo further testing.
“We have to have guys ready to play… They don’t have to come in and do a lot. They just have to come in and play hard,” Brown said, stressing the team’s depleted depth.
A long-term absence could present a difficult decision for New York. Shamet’s contract does not become guaranteed until early January, giving the Knicks flexibility if medical recommendations lean toward surgery.
Anthony Davis Trade Rumors
While dealing with injuries of their own, the Knicks remain linked to an injury-prone star: 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks are among the teams expected to explore Davis’ availability if the Dallas Mavericks move forward with trade discussions following their rocky start.
“If Dallas is offering Davis at a below-market cost, I’m sure the Knicks will at least give the move some thought,” Begley wrote.
A potential Knicks package would likely have to include contracts such as Robinson and Anunoby — or, if negotiations escalate, Karl-Anthony Towns, whose salary structure aligns with a blockbuster deal.
The Mavericks are reportedly planning to explore the market for Davis before the February deadline. ESPN has confirmed that Dallas is entertaining interest despite public comments denying trade plans.
Knicks Get One Boost: McBride Clears Illness
There is at least one bit of positive news for New York: Miles McBride is set to return after missing Saturday’s game due to illness. McBride is in the midst of a career surge, averaging 10.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 37.5% from three.
His return adds stability to a guard rotation that just absorbed a major hit.
What’s Next?
The Knicks have lost five of their last six road games and will need immediate production from their supporting cast if Robinson cannot play. With trade chatter intensifying and the roster battered early, New York’s depth — and front office patience — is being tested far sooner than expected.
