Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns Makes Classy Gesture After NBA Cup Win

All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns announced Tuesday that he will donate his entire $530,933 NBA Cup Final prize money to his foundation in the Dominican Republic to help impoverished families and children.

“We’re building facilities, educating kids and giving them the resources to chase their dreams,” Towns said of the work done by his KAT Team Foundation.

“I’m super excited that, with my god-given talents and the work I put into being successful in my craft, I can help a lot of kids out,” he added.

The classy gesture was widely praised by fans and analysts alike on social media.

“Real one,” wrote one Knicks fan while thanking Towns for his generosity.

“Karl turning NBA cash into Dominican homes. baller move,” wrote one fan.

One San Antonio Spurs fan took solace in the news, admitting that he was feeling better about his team’s 124-113 loss to New York.

“Makes me feel better about this loss,” wrote the Spurs fan.

Towns Survives Injury Scare

Towns, who finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and two steals, left for the bench at the 5:06 mark in the third quarter with a calf injury, per Cassidy Hubbarth.

He was subsequently seen grimacing in pain and getting treatment, leading some to speculate that he suffered a severe injury.

Thankfully, he returned to the court during the final 4:49 of the fourth quarter and made some crucial plays, including collecting a rebound and initiating a fast-break opportunity for a Josh Hart three, and swiping the ball from Stephon Castle.

‘The Cup is Special’

When asked if the Knicks’ NBA Cup win could prove to be a launching pad for the ultimate prize, the Larry O’Brien Trophy, Towns said he was living in the moment.

“Life is very unpredictable,” he admitted. “We don’t know what tomorrow has. But here in the present, the Knicks are the Cup champions. And I’ve got a bunch of amazing brothers in that locker room that made this possible.”

Towns also tried to downplay the talk that capturing the NBA Cup isn’t as prestigious.

“The Cup is special,” he said. “It brought out the best in all the teams. For us to say that we won and we’re the champions and to have this dope-ass shirt with the Knicks saying champions is an honor.”

Towns was understandably elated after the Knicks completed a 124-113 victory to become the third-annual NBA Cup champions. The big man facetimed with ardent Knicks fans such as Timothée Chalamet and Ben Stiller while holding the NBA Cup.
