New York Jets defensive back Kris Boyd was shot early Sunday morning and remains in critical but stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.
The New York Police Department released footage Monday of a suspect in the shooting, via ABC7NY.
Police said they are looking for the suspect, who was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers and carrying a black bookbag.
Boyd was leaving a popular Asian-fusion restaurant in Midtown New York when a verbal dispute turned violent, ABC7NY reported. When cops arrived, Boyd had a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The New York Post reported that the shooter fled the scene in a BMW X8 SUV — but witnesses were uncooperative with cops. Boyd lapsed in and out of consciousness before he was rushed to the hospital.
The relationship between the gunman and Boyd wasn’t immediately clear.
Jets Teammates React to the News
The Jets released a statement Sunday saying they are aware of the incident but had no further comment. Some of Boyd’s teammates and others around the NFL took to social media to express thoughts and prayers.
“Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!!,” wrote defensive back Jermaine Johnson II on X. “Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely. In your name, Amen.”
