The Los Angeles Lakers are the only team in the NBA with two players — Luka Doncic and LeBron James — who feature in the top 10 of the NBA 2K26 player ratings. While Doncic (95 overall) is the fourth-highest-ranked player in the upcoming video game, James (94 overall) comes in at sixth, behind Stephen Curry.
Only Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic (98 overall), Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (98 overall) and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (97 overall) are rated above Doncic, while Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards (95 overall) and Curry are slightly ahead of James.
While video game ratings aren’t the best barometer to judge players, the NBA 2K26 ratings reinforce the notion that the Lakers are the only team in the NBA with two top-10 players. The only other team to feature two players in the top 20 are the New York Knicks, with Jalen Brunson (93 overall) and Karl-Anthony Towns (92 overall) landing at 13th and 18th, respectively, in the pre-launch ratings.
NBA 2K26 Ratings Not Definite
As is tradition, the ratings are dynamic and could change as the season progresses. Last year, for example, SGA found himself outside the top-5 in the ratings, but quickly progressed to the top-3 en route to his first MVP and Finals MVP trophies.
Last season, Doncic didn’t make an All-NBA Team for the first time since his rookie year, but that was mainly because he didn’t meet the criteria of 65 games. Still, 2K Sports didn’t penalize the Slovenian and ranked him No. 4 in the game.
“Several months later, and it’s still surreal seeing Luka Dončić in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform,” read the NBA 2K website, revealing his 95 overall rating.
“The Slovenian superstar dealt with unique circumstances last year, recovering from a lower leg injury before being a part of one of the biggest blockbuster trades in sports history; however, he didn’t let it negatively affect his production on the court. In 28 games with the Lake Show, Dončić shined with 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game. Much gets made about No. 77’s offensive repertoire, but it’s worth noting he averaged a career-high 1.8 steals per game last season, as well.”
LeBron’s Last Game In Top 10?
LeBron James will turn 41 just two months into the 2025-26 season, making him the oldest player in NBA history to still chart as a top-10-level player.
As “The King” continues to defy Father Time, NBA 2K justifiably rated him a 94 overall.
“Forty years old and still going strong, LeBron James is an anomaly who’s somehow managed to slow down Father Time,” read the website.
“Entering a historic 23rd NBA season, James is in uncharted territory, becoming the first player to reach the impressive milestone. But what’s more impressive is how he continues to play at an elite level despite his age. The 21-time All-Star is still widely regarded as a top 10 player in the league, finishing sixth in MVP voting last season.”
NBA 2K26 is set to release globally on September 25, 2025, but fans who pre-ordered the game will gain early access starting on August 29, 2025.
