Lamar Jackson Called NFL’s ‘Most Overrated QB’ in New Rankings

The sad truth about Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s career moving forward is their is just one landmark — a Super Bowl win — that anyone cares about.

Until that happens, the chatter will never stop.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay put Jackson atop his list of the NFL’s Most Overrated Quarterbacks on November 11, and did so with the resurgent Ravens clawing their way back into the NFC North Division race with 3 consecutive wins.

That Jackson could still end up on a list like this is incredible considering he’s just one of a handful of multiple-time NFL MVP winners in league history.

Lamar Jackson may not just be one of the NFL’s most overrated active quarterbacks, but also of all time,” Kay wrote. “While Jackson’s regular season statistics and team success are undoubtedly impressive … he hasn’t found a way to deliver when it truly counts. Jackson has yet to even reach the big game, let alone help raise a banner. He has a 3-5 lifetime playoff record, a .375 postseason winning percentage that stands far and away as the worst amongst the multiple-time MVPs.”

History of Jackson’s Postseason Struggles

Jackson’s postseason failures to this point have been one of the cruel footnotes in the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty — in the last 6 years they’ve played in 5 Super Bowls and won 3 times.

The one year the Chiefs didn’t play in the Super Bowl, following the 2021 regular season, a team from Baltimore’s division, the Cincinnati Bengals, won the AFC Championship.

For Jackson, he’s made exactly one appearance in the AFC Championship Game, when the Ravens were the No. 1 seed following the 2023 regular season, when they lost to the Chiefs at home.

“We got to get over this, because we’re right there,” Jackson told The Associated Press following Baltimore’s loss to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round following the 2024 season. “I’m tired of being right there. We need to punch in that ticket.”

Zombie Ravens Back to Life Following 1-5 Start

The Ravens have suddenly become one of the NFL’s hottest teams after every sports writer in American wrote their obituary following a 1-5 start to the season — one that included Jackson missing 3 games with a hamstring injury.

The Ravens won their third consecutive game in Week 10, taking down the Minnesota Vikings on the road to improve to 4-5 and now have a favorable schedule down the stretch.

Baltimore’s remaining 8 games included 4 games against teams who currently have losing records and only 2 games against tams that are more than one game above .50o. Both of those games are at home, in Week 16 against the New England Patriots and Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers.

Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski gave Jackson a “B” grade for his performance in the 27-19 win over the Vikings, when he went 17 of 29 passing for 176 yards and one touchdown to go with 9 carries for 36 yards.

” … Jackson now has a five-to-zero touchdown-to-interception ratio since returning to the lineup,” Sobleski wrote. “Jackson is a superstar. He’s capable of carrying the Ravens, which he’s done at times. But this version of the team is evolving with each week. Right now, the two-time NFL MVP doesn’t need to shoulder expectations.”
