Lions Announce Final Decision on Amon-Ra St. Brown After Injury

The Detroit Lions have already been dealing with a rash of injuries, but they added to that on Thanksgiving, when the team’s wide receiver Amon-Ra St Brown was injured in the first-quarter of their home game against the Green Bay Packers.

Initially, the Detroit Lions’ PR took to X to say that St. Brown was “questionable” to return to the game and was dealing with an ankle injury. Now, the team has made their final decision on the availability of St. Brown going forward.

St. Brown went down after having his leg rolled from behind, during an instance with fellow Lions player Jahmyr Gibbs. After getting hurt, St. Brown remained on the ground and was quickly taken back to the locker room.

Detroit Lions Make Final Call on Amon-Ra St. Brown

Just after the second half of the Lions and Packers game started, the Lions’ PR team announced that St. Brown “has been downgraded to out.” So, he won’t return in the team’s game against the Green Bay Packers, and there’s no word on whether he’ll be available for the team’s upcoming schedule.

St. Brown is a record-breaker, and losing him is a big hit to the Detroit Lions. Last weekend, against the New York Giants, St. Brown hit 500-career receptions in just 77-career games, which shows his worth. It was the second-fewest games needed to accumulate 500 receptions in NFL history.

After the Lions announced that St. Brown was out for the whole game, followers reacted. “To be fair, I wouldn’t want to come back out either,” one said on X. “This franchise cannot buy a break despite a lot of regular season success the last few years,” another said. “Praying he can bounce back,” another noted.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Could Still Be Healthy for Dallas Cowboys Game

After the Packers, the Lions are up against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football on December 4. Since the team hasn’t made any announcement about St. Brown’s availability going forward, he could certainly be healthy for that game.

It’s crucial that St. Brown is back for the Cowboys. They’re a hot team right now, following their win over the Eagles, and the Lions and Cowboys rivalry is strong.

Losing St. Brown long-term could be a huge hit to this franchise for the year. It’s not over yet, but the Lions don’t have an easy road to the playoffs, and having St. Brown out would only make it harder.

Eric Edholm of the NFL notes that the Detroit Lions have been up against a tough schedule, and that will continue. “This has been a gauntlet of a schedule, so the Lions are allowed a tough game here and there,” the NFL analyst says in an article out on Tuesday, November 25., adding that the team remains “strong contenders for both the playoffs and a third straight division title.”

So, it hasn’t been an easy road for the Detroit Lions. But, then again, it’s never easy for the Motor City. This team was built for adversity, so bring it on.
