Lions Player Who Said He Would ‘Die’ for Dan Campbell Shares Update

The Detroit Lions have some fun personalities on their team, and that’s one thing that makes them an entertaining team to follow. From head coach Dan Campbell, who is pretty much the spitting image of a coach in the NFL, to players such as Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown, this is simply a great squad.

Chemistry is important to any team, and when the Detroit Lions enter the draft each season, they make sure to pick players who fit not only the physical nature of the team but also have that team chemistry. Heading into the 2025-26 season, it’s primed to be a very important season for the Lions, because they’re one of the strongest teams in the NFL but will also be under new coaching leadership after losing both their offensive and defensive coordinators.

One new Detroit Lions player who has gained a lot of positive attention is Ahmed Hassanein. The Egyptian-American player was drafted by Detroit this year as the No. 196 overall pick, and it’s difficult to forget what he said after he was drafted. “I will die on that field for you,” he told Campbell on the phone when he got the call about being drafted. Now, that’s dedication.

Detroit Lions Rookie Shares Good Update

Hassanein suffered an injury during Week 2 of the preseason, in the Detroit Lions’ game against the Miami Dolphins. Now, he’s sharing a positive update that the injury doesn’t seem to be too serious.

In a report from Justin Rogers of Detroit Football, Rogers says that Hassanein spoke with him about his injury and that he won’t need surgery, after getting MRI results. While Rogers stated that it’s “too early to say how long he might be out of action,” it’s certainly good news that he doesn’t need surgery, and that will give him a better chance of returning to the team during the regular season.

Hassanein also took to social media to share a recovery update. In a recent post on his stories, he thanked God for not needing surgery and sounded very hopeful.

“God is good, I’m blessed,” Hassanein stated. “I want to thank everybody that asked about me. I’m so grateful and blessed no surgery is needed just time to heal. God is good all the time.”

He added, “I may not understand but I truly trust the Lord timing and in everything. I will be back. Hungrier, than I ever been. All glory to Jesus in everything.”

Ahmed Hassanein’s Time Away From the Lions Still Up in the Air

So, Campbell hasn’t made it clear about how much time Hassanein is expected to be off the field. But, the team hasn’t put him on injury reserve, so that’s a sign that things are pointing in the right direction.

For a player who is obviously so excited to be in Detroit and play for Campbell and the Lions, it’s really too bad that he took a spill during the Miami game. But, he’s a prayerful man, and he’s likely praying to get back out there with his new teammates as soon as possible and make the Motor City proud.
