LIV Golf just dropped a major announcement: the 2026 LIV Golf Team Championship will return to Michigan, once again serving as the season finale for the Saudi-backed league. Building on last year’s thrilling debut in the Wolverine State, the 2026 finale will take place August 27-30 at The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, just outside Detroit, and for the first time under a new title sponsor, Aramco.
The newly named Aramco LIV Golf Michigan Team Championship not only highlights the league’s expanding commercial footprint, but also reinforces Michigan’s place as a focal point in LIV Golf’s global schedule rollout. With fans still buzzing over the dramatic climax of the 2025 event, expectations are high for an electric return to the Great Lakes region next summer.
Michigan: A Fitting Home for the League’s Team Showdown
The decision to bring the Team Championship back to Michigan underscores how well the venue and region have responded to LIV Golf’s fan-centric model. Last August, The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort hosted the league’s first Michigan finale, where Legion XIII, led by Jon Rahm, edged out Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC in a dramatic finish involving clutch birdies and a two-hole playoff.
Ross Hallett, LIV Golf’s executive vice president and head of events, emphasized that team competition is at the heart of the league’s identity.
“Team competition is at the core of our League, and our annual Team Championship is one of our biggest events of the year. From the course layout for team match play to the fan experiences to world-class concerts, Saint John’s Resort, Wayne County, and the state of Michigan were fantastic hosts for LIV Golf this past season, and we can’t wait to return next August,” Hallett said.
“We’re looking forward to working with the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation and the incredible team at Saint John’s Resort to build on the momentum from a successful 2025 finale as we set our sights on an exciting 2026 season ahead.”
These Michigan finales have become more than just tournaments; they’re celebrations of LIV Golf’s unique format and its effort to blend elite competition with festival-style engagement. That blend has resonated with fans and players alike, turning the season-ending title event into a marquee moment on the schedule.
“Welcoming LIV Golf to The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort in 2025 was a unique opportunity to showcase what Saint John’s is capable of, while also advancing our Foundation’s mission, and the week exceeded every expectation. The League’s innovative approach is truly reshaping the game of golf both on and off the course, and we’re honored that our property has been selected to host the 2026 Team Championship,” Kevin Doyle, Chief Operating Officer of The Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, said.
“The feedback we received this past year from local residents and fans across the country was unbelievable–they were blown away by the atmosphere and the fun they had here, and we are looking forward to making an already world-class event even bigger and better in 2026.”
Aramco Steps In as Title Partner
In what marks a significant commercial development for the league, Aramco has joined LIV Golf as the title partner for the 2026 Team Championship–the second major title partner in LIV Golf’s history. The partnership signals continued investment in the league’s growth and elevates the stature of what is already one of its most high-profile events.
The collaboration with Aramco reflects LIV Golf’s broader strategy to bring in global partners that share its vision of expanding golf’s reach and enhancing the fan experience. From hospitality ticket access to upgraded event programming, the league is positioning the Michigan finale as a must-attend destination for golf enthusiasts and casual spectators alike.
While financial terms and branding details have not been disclosed, Aramco’s involvement is expected to bring heightened visibility and additional resources to the Championship, reinforcing LIV Golf’s season-ending spectacle as one of the sport’s most talked-about stops.
2026 Schedule
The 2026 Team Championship will cap a much-expanded LIV Golf calendar. The league’s 14-event slate for 2026 includes stops in Riyadh (February 4-7), Adelaide (February 12-15), Hong Kong (March 5-8) Singapore (March 12-15), South Africa (March 19-22), Mexico City (April 16-19), Virginia (May 7-10), Andalucía (June 4-7), Louisiana (June 25-28), United Kingdom (July 23-26), and Indianapolis (August 20-23), and concluding in Michigan (Aug. 27-30).
